Now obviously, the better you're computer overall is, the better the engine will run the game. However, I was reading during the livestream that the amount of Cars you can run will be based on the CPU core count of something along those lines.

I currently have a 3220 Ivy Bridge i3. @ 3.3 GHz ( Dual core with 4 threads. Meaning there are two extra logical cores, and everything windows runs it renders the CPUcore count to 4, despite the program. 3D rendering on the CPU end in similar to a i5) DO NOT PLAN ON UPGRADING.

Anyhow, my question is how well will it run when its paired with a GTX 760. (Ex. How many cars would I be able to run, what settings, etc.)

It has been previously said that HT doesn't affect performance much. You will definitely be able to play with two cars I suppose, probably 3 or 4 at a push, but really you will have to wait for BNG to come out before you can know what performance will actually be like. On a side note, I have no idea where you got the thought in your head that an i3 has similar performance to an i5 in 3d rendering. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/677?vs=363 The i3 3220 is outperformed in all the 3dsmax render tests by the older, lower clocked i5 2400.

I was thinking of the old Sandy Bridge i5, But I have not yet seen this benchmark page. Thanks though for the response.

Firstly, it's no good comparing Sandy bridge to Ivy bridge.
Secondly, don't look at rendering performance if you want to compare it to BeamNG
I think AES would probably be the closest to physics simulation, but the two don't compare because the i5 and i7 has a AES instruction set, greatly increasing performance as you can see.
I guess just look at SYSMark...

There's not much of a difference of any gen i5 (except 1st gen). Maybe 20% increase from Sandy to Haswell, but that's at stock. Once OC'ed it's all basically the same.

Not even that much. And when it comes to gaming, sandy bridge, ivy bridge and haswell are all equivalent.

Once overclocked, yes. But Ivy has higher performance per clock, and Haswell has more performance per clock than Ivy.

please correct me if i am wrong, but didn't the devs say that it was running on the CPU as it it now but they will transfer it to the GPU later on (physics will be a task for the GPU which means that CPU wouldn't make the heavy stuff anymore)?

    You are wrong :)

They said, each car will be simulated on it's own CPU core, and if you run out of cores, the GPU will be used to help.
So, for example if you got a 4 core CPU and you are playing with 5 cars, that would mean 4 cars are simulated by the CPU and one is on the GPU.

    Not related to the question:
I don't know but I think it would be better having it based around the frame time instead of number of cars, because if you got an awesome CPU, it might be possible to have 2 cars on one core without problems.

Where are you getting this information? I've never heard them mention that they would use GPU for physics..? That was an old RoR concept that was never taken anywhere.

IIRC in the Twitch chat they talked about it. I can't confirm it but who knows.
