CURRENT As of 8/9/2022 Spoiler: Update post 7/19/2022 today's color is green Hi. I've been working 9 to 5 so progress has slowed, as previously mentioned. This post is mostly to prove that I'm not dead lol. As I have learned more about 3D modelling in the past few months I have realized that I don't really like how this model has turned out in retrospect but alas I will continue to work out the kinks. I have not applied any work into BNG yet, so for now I'm keeping this short and sweet. Most of the changes are difficult to see which is how it's intended to be since the primary work has been done in refinement of the model. I can't land on a wheel style that I like yet so these ones are the closest to one that I like for now. Updated interior + materials. Spoiler: Update post 6/7/2022 today's color is orange I've been busy with my job for the past month, so progress has slowed considerably and will likely remain at this slower pace for the duration of the project—only a few changes to note are here. Primarily model cleanup and smoothing changes, along with new wheels and a more detailed taillight assembly. The interior has front seats now, woo yeah I tried my hand at jbeam approximately a month ago and quickly realized it's a way out of my league for now, so that's going to be a roadblock for advancing the project any further for the time being.[/SIZE] Spoiler: Update post 5/15/2022 wooo new paint texture that won't make its way into the game anyways I'm continuing to refine the model further, with the addition of new parts such as headlight details and mirrors. Also we're red now! Additionally, there are some changes to the chassis (which I had to completely re-model from scratch due to issues with normals and generally poor meshflow—as a result of the new paint model I've chosen to use, I had to make the chassis a black plastic to better showcase how it really looks), along with a more detailed interior. Spoiler: Update post 5/13/2022 wooo new renders Besides the lighting and environment you might be asking "what's new?" ...But wait, there's more! I began to model the chassis and interior bits today—it's all a bit rudimentary but we're getting there! I'm primarily using the Porsche 993, Acura NSX, and other early 90s sports cars as a reference for how the chassis should be laid out, whilst the interior is designed to be a reverse-engineered version of the modern SBR. Spoiler: Update post 5/12/2022 Didn't want to update anything until I had some progress, so here's a minor update. Basically thought long and hard about what I wanted the SBR to look like—my inspirations from the era include the Porsche 911, Alpine A610, Subaru SVX, and Toyota Supra, among others. The overall length of the car hasn't changed drastically. It's slightly shorter, less tall, and less wide, standing shorter than the current SBR and the Porsche 993 at 4.23m. A 2.54m wheelbase places it just under the 2+2 version of the Nissan 300ZX, while the 1.31m height makes it just as tall as a Toyota Celica. Wheel and tire size have both gone up and are the primary reasons why the car looks smaller than it is; the front fascia has gained details along with some revisions to lower and square off the headlights and move the A-pillar forwards, which all should help make it look era-accurate. The rear end has also been massaged with a more tapered, Audi Quattro-like appearance. Spoiler: Original post 5/11/2022 I'm unskilled when it comes to modding anything, so hopefully I can get some help here... I'm making an attempt at a 1993 Hirochi SBR4 based on an old design I created 3 years ago, along with a shot of new 3D modelling skills that I've been picking up over the past few months. Any help would be appreciated!
I'm a total noob at modeling, but i'd suggest to investigate more about cars around that age. I think it looks way too modern to be from the 90s, and it looks more like an actual sbr4 but wagon or shooting brake.
The taillights (with grids) are good for a 90s car, but whole front fascia and the global shape are more 2000s lines But I love the idea of this project anyways! i'll suggest you a more squared windshield/windows shape and more squared edges in the whole car
The front lights look like the Dodge Viper 2nd gen, so i suggest taking the taillights from the viper too, as those squared-cubical form just looks out of place. also you might wanna get rid of that sideskirt, as mentioned it looks wayy to modern for a 90's car.
if this is a 90s coupe, then it should look like these cars Corrado for its hatchback-coupe body style and Celica for its bumper and fascia just my opinion and that SBR4 looks like the 2000s coupe
It has to be a shooting brake, because the SB in SBR4 stands for shooting brake. Could be based on this instead, except rear engine so shorter front and longer rear:
This actually looks rather nice, but for it to live up to it's more modern cousin, i'd suggest he'd keep the viper headlights.
This is Porsche 989 Panamera concept from 1988, So it looking too modern is not the best argument i would say. Sure, it can be made boxier, but we can also say that it was a futuristic concept that actually made it to production
Than why is there a coupe mod for it? --- Post updated --- And yes, it says it is a shooting brake in the info
