That happens whenever there's a problem with lua. Does it do it on every time trial? Could be anything, really. Send the logfiles (they are in the main local folder) and I'll have a look. Also see the console for hints.
Code: 184.96522|I|GELua.print| utah_gravel_rally_wp1 (1). CALL: 2 left minus drops 184.96805|E|GameEngineLua:Exception| [string "lua/ge/extensions/scenario/rallyMode.lua"]:366: attempt to index upvalue 'say' (a nil value) it looks like "say" is nil. "say" is a method I import from the pacenote core (it's the function that makes the co-driver speak a string). I think your installation of the pacenote core might be borked. Are you sure it's installed? Can you try playing HiDef's time trials from his own rally pack and see if those work? Link below. I don't know then. Try CTRL-L in different places. (start menu, after starting a time trial, etc etc) You could always try the usual stuff, like clearing cache, manually removing the mod and installing it again, reinstalling the game... Sorry man.
Might i suggest pacenotes for Altitude ? I think it'd make a really great spot for rallying, but there are many tricky/blind corners that it's pretty much impossible without a co-driver.
Sounds good, I'll do that next. Keep the suggestions going. While we're at it, have you played the gravel version of JRI by elferrito? I loved it. Is there any other map you'd like to see converted to full gravel?
Hey friend, amazing mod, I love rally so I appreciate the effort For now I don´t use a lot the mod mainly beacause I don´t like the copilot voice, I understand half of the notes (the 4 is really confusing for example) and because it's not easy to adjust his volume. Also the fact you cannot tell him to read his notes sooner or later. But I understand the copilot mod is not yours. I saw you want to turn Beam into a rally game, I guess you know RBR and it´s actually an abandonware. I don´t have any idea how the assets can be used but there's quite a lot of maps and audio files that could be re-used. Also the plugins for RBR can be inspiring like the pacenotes mod they have, so in your actual "checkpoint system" if you could place yourself the checkpoints, remove them... and bind them to audio would be great. Last thing, when I enter the missions in freeroam I see all the checkpoints and no copilot voice, it only works through the time trial menu. Thanks a lot for the mod, I hope we see new updates I feel with a better and user friendly copilot this mod can go a long way ! Cheers
Hey. I have been working on most of the things you have asked, but I'm very slow because sometimes I get bored and kind of forget about it for weeks. Nobody pings me on discord and/or in the forum, so I kind of get unmotivated as well. I really appreciate the message, I'll have a look at what's left to implement and try to release this big update soon! You'll be able to edit the pacenotes via text files, download additional voice packs (I'll most likely release those on Discord), there will be a basic UI, and more time trials.
On a related note, is anyone interested in recording new voices for the co-driver? I'm not happy with the current one but I hate my own voice.
it's pretty good, it's clear. I'd say it's more the audio quality that's the issue, your voice is fine. On another note i love this mod, i use it very often compared to other mods. If there's anything i could help you with, i'd be happy to
It's not my voice, it's text to speech (the best I could find, but still...) Help is always super welcome. At the moment (besides the new voice) I could do with 1) testing the experimental version 2) new rallyes with pacenotes, especially in other maps 3) graphic design stuff (logos, map thumbnails, pacenote icons, UI design (this stuff mostly applies to the experimental version, which has a new UI) 4) map design (adding stuff to the prefabs such as spectators, a nicer start tent like in real rallyes, and stuff like that) 5) YouTube videos! If you want to discuss more you can find me in the beamng rally community discord channel
