Not sure. I kinda lied above. What I actually did is I disabled the bit that disables all your mods after detecting a migration, because that was my real issue. I'm still getting the migration message each time I start the game, but I don't have to reactivate the mods anymore.

This fix obviously breaks very often.

Sorry if this is a bump, but I would like to add that I have the same issue on Linux Mint 20.2. I have a Radeon Vega Mobile integrated graphics card. Roughly 2gb if that helps.

Hey, having this problem again with the newest .25 update and Linux on the Steam Deck. Does anyone know if this fix from @snoutie will still work on .25?

Thanks for any input! I did try the native Linux version but the Windows/Proton version is running much better for me minus this black terrain issue.

This is the previous fix from snoutie, just not sure if it is specific to just .24 and don't want to mess up .25..... I'm a total Linux noob for the most part.

For me it still works, and also, you can now generate the textures with the native version, and then copy them to the proton version! (If you have the time, then you could also upload them to snoutie's github)

I've beaten you guys to it and the repo has been updated with my donated cache. But it's good to know I could've generated the cache myself using the new native Linux build for next time instead of rebooting into Windows like I did.

I did it with VMs, but Kernel 5.18 somehow broke almost everything VM related for me (qemu works kinda, VirtualBox hangs on starting up any VM, VMware just gives an error saying it can't find /dev/vmmon even though the kernel module is loaded...

I looked into the issue and saw that it has been fixed in the main Wine repo. I made a PR requesting the fix to be included in Proton (https://github.com/ValveSoftware/wine/pull/160), which was included in the latest Proton Bleeding Edge. It's available by selecting the "bleeding-edge" beta for Proton Experimental.

The fix resulted in much higher RAM usage when loading a map for the first time, but restarting the game and trying again fixes it for me.

I am on MacOS. Is there some way to something like bleeding edge with Wineskin?
