so i tried changing a map im making from the old materials to PBR. I'm using the textures from ECU, and since i dont want the map to have the ecu base texture, i tried changing it and now everything is black

I haven't found any tutorials on how to make or get a base texture like the ones in the base maps like these upload_2022-6-18_22-9-10.png

if anyone could explain how i can make one in an easy way that would be very helpful (i feel like this is something i should know)

It's usually the base template size setting that is out when it's black. Check your image size and the settings all match up.

i tried changing the base mapping scale to the amount of pixels the image has, and everything is still black (is this what you meant, or am i being a dumb?)

That is what I meant. Shame it didn't work.

I'm trying to remember what it is that I always have to change to get it to work, but I'm struggling.

I think you have to make sure your base normals, etc match the same pixels.

Also, they have to be 1:1 ratio.

Can't think what else, but if you're still struggling, one trick I use is to copy the terrain folder from a working map, and then open the base images and paste my version over the top. That way everything else stays the same. If that makes sense.

Ah yeah, all image resolutions need to be multiples of 1024

Glad it's working for you now.

The dimensions must be power of two. 1024 x 512 would work also. See decal textures for example.

    Glad it's worke
I didn't know that. I thought all map base files had to be square. Nice
