Description: Redesigned rails for the Roane County, Tennessee, USA map. This mod contains file sets for Roane County and Polish Roads fixes. Similarities: - As planned, they are completely interchangeable. This means that when replacing models, no additional steps are required. File names, object centers, lengths, radii, collision meshes of these assets are consistent with each other. Differences: Collision Mesh: - The ends of the rails are made in such a way that the rail webs can withstand a transverse displacement of 10 cm relative to each other. This allows you to cope with the lack of accuracy of fractional values on large maps. This avoids derailment of trains. -Removed the inner angle of the rails, due to which some vehicles began to behave better. -Outside, the rails have been thickened, which does not affect the movement of trains, but avoids cars getting stuck in the rails. Visible Mesh: -provided 2 LODs Materials: -PBR material including Albedo, Normal, Roughness, Metallic Instruction: 1) Find where your unpacked roane_county_tn_usa mod is located. (For example, I have it here: j:\BeamngUser\0.25\mods\unpacked\roane_county_tn_usa) 2) Next go here: \levels\SouthernHighway\art\tracks\ 3) Find files there rail1t10mstrt_a474UID.dae rail1t100mstrt_a474UI.dae rail1t150r10d_a474UID.dae rail1t150r45d_a474UID.dae rail1t500r10d_a474UID.dae rail1t50mstrt_a474UID.dae And move them somewhere (you may need them if you want to return everything as it was) 4) Copy the downloaded files there: rail1t10mstrt_a474UID.dae rail1t100mstrt_a474UI.dae rail1t150r10d_a474UID.dae rail1t150r45d_a474UID.dae rail1t500r10d_a474UID.dae rail1t50mstrt_a474UID.dae rail1t10mstrt_a474UID.cs a474UID_rails_BaseColor.color.dds a474UID_rails_Normal.normal.dds a474UID_rails_Roughness.data.dds a474UID_rails_Metallic.data.dds materials.cs 5) If the game was open at that moment, then the material (textures) will appear after the game is restarted. At this point, the new models should display correctly in the game. 5.1)If the meshes did not change try to delete temp game files (In my case their destination is here j:\BeamngUser\0.25\temp\levels\polish_roads_v2\) 6) Start the game. Choose a free ride and spawn anywhere on the roane_county_tn_usa map. 7)-Press F11 The editor should open. -On the left we see the SceneTree window. Search there rail1t10mstrt_a474UID.dae -Via the shift key, select everything that is displayed in this window. -On the right, go to the Inspector tab -Opposite the field collisionType Put Collision Mesh instead of Visible Mesh. -Do the same for the remaining downloaded .dae files (rail1t100mstrt_a474UI.dae, rail1t150r10d_a474UID.dae and so on) 8) Press Ctrl + S (Save, that is.) 9) Just restart the game, (or press pause "J", raise the car off the ground, then Ctrl + F7 (Rebuild Collision) and F11 to return to the game). After that everything should work. All meshes were tested with several trains. 9.1) Be aware that saved level changes are located in "j:\BeamngUser\0.25\levels\" folder. Not in "j:\BeamngUser\0.25\mods\unpacked\" folder. So, if you want to realy save changes copy level files between these folders. In my case I had to replace "j:\BeamngUser\0.25\mods\unpacked\roane_county_tn_usa\levels\SouthernHighway\main\MissionGroup\items.level.json" file with "j:\BeamngUser\0.25\levels\southernhighway\main\MissionGroup\items.level.json" file Tips for mapmakers: If you plan to construct a map using these rails, it's best to arrange them so that the visible parts roughly coincide with each other (put them as precise as you can. I recommend not to shift them transversely relative to each other by more than 5 cm). They should not be scaled along the longitudinal axis or overlapped (a little overlap in visual appearance goals is allowable). This can worsen the behavior of trains. To-Do List: -More edited tracks (including those that are not in the original) -Texture for gravil in grey tone. -Variant, which can withstand a transverse displacement of 15 cm (It makes trains slightly shake in the vertical direction on welds. Therefore, it may be done according to requests only) CREDITS: @chris_lucas, @bob.blunderton - Original Railroad track models Images Collision Mesh: (Invisible in game)
This looks interesting. I think the Default Tracks just weren't properly intented to be used by Trains So you also added PBR to Roane County?
I just set a PBR material for my models. All other materials remained the same. The game editor allows you to use different versions of materials in one level.
Hello @fmol00 would you be able to make a video showing how and where to put these files? It is difficult for me, I don't like descriptions. I prefer to watch a movie tutorial. Could you? I would be very grateful to you
This is really hard for me. Okay, maybe not that difficult (After reading a dozen or so times, I understand more or less what it is about, but it is incomprehensible to me. Could you make a movie for me?
Hello @fmol00, I would like to thank you very much for making a movie for me (by the way, you have a nice mess in your documents) I did everything like you did in the video, but the problem is ... it doesn't work for me. Perhaps the error is that I copied the downloaded files and pasted them into levels / SouthernHighway / art / tracks instead of moving them. Finally, when I was in Beamng and gave all the tracks a collision, I pressed CTRL + S twice, then exited the World Editor without pressing CTRL + F7 and quit the game. What did I do wrong?
What's the problem? 1. Do you see old or new meshes in game? 2. If you see new meshes, does the colliders work properly? In the first case try this: >Perhaps the error is that I copied the downloaded files and pasted them into levels /SouthernHighway/art/tracks instead of moving them. You need to make sure that the files are copied with replacement of old files. (if you see files like rail1t500r10d_a474UID (1).dae or rail1t500r10d_a474UID - copy.dae or something like these in destination directory which is \BeamngUser\0.25\mods\unpacked\Roane_County_TN_USA\levels\SouthernHighway\art\tracks\ you did not replace old files. You need to copy them again but with replacement of old files) If you are sure that files are copied properly try to remove SouthernHighway directory which is located there: \BeamngUser\0.25\temp\levels\ (it contains just temp files nothing importent) and if you see SouthernHighway directory which is located there: \BeamngUser\0.25\levels\ delete it too . After these actions reload the game.
