This is the '93 Canopysaurus Flintmobile, aka Fred's car from the Flintstones.

I wanted to take a break from serious modding and constantly fixing my broken mods so I did this as a modding speedrun. I feel like there are way too many realistic cars on the forums and not enough weird stuff like this. The 3D model was made by me in 1 day, it might have some shading and other issues that I didn't bother fixing. There are some stretched textures because I was too lazy to unwrap everything, it's not a high effort mod and it's not made for the repository. I based it on the studio blueprints and some arts, rather than the actual shots from the show, because those are super inconsistent and the car varies a lot in them depending on what fits the current situation. (In the intro alone, the amount and type of seats changes between shots, the rear part of canopy either is there or not and the hole in it changes size, it gains some additional parts, etc. The wonders of minimal animation approach...)
As I have no idea how to make textures, I used modified materials from this website: https://freepbr.com/. They are free to use for non-commercial project. I modified the base color maps to get the colors I wanted. List of used textures included in the mod files.
Jbeam is made 100% from scratch, except the canopy is based partially on the bus cape and partially on the Hopper soft top. If you think it's a meshslap for some reason you can take a look:

I tried to get the physical properties as realistic as possible for the materials used. This website: https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/guest-blog/the-physics-of-fred-flintstones-flaming-feet/ was helpful to get the correct weights of the rollers and the 'engine' and 'brakes' properties, although the author underestimated the car's size (which I made proportionally to the Stig model) and clearly forgot that the interior is made of stone and it's in fact the heaviest part of the vehicle. The final weight of the car is thus over 3.5 tons, for every part I calculated the volume and estimated the density to get a realistic weight, for the side tree trunks I found a helpful website: https://extension.tennessee.edu/publications/documents/sp748.pdf

The car is very heavy and slow because it's only propelled by 2 humans with realistic strength. It won't go up any hill and the acceleration and top speed are very bad. It also doesn't turn because I have no idea how that would realistically work. The brakes are not very usable at high speed either. The only sensible way to use it is to go downhill and crash. Obviously it's extremely unsafe due to being a runabout (old vehicle body style which has a soft roof without a windshield and A-pillars, it evolved into the roadster body style) and being halfway made of wood. The roof wobbles a lot because of badly designed support, the rollers can just pop out of their holes and fall off, and pretty much every part can be separated, the wood branches and canopy can also be shredded to pieces.

Due to the fact that this only took me 2 days to make and was pretty rushed, there are some more issues, for example there is no 'suspension' of the driver and passenger legs so it's impossible to drive off-road and you will get stuck on the smallest bumps. But it's not like you would have the torque to go off-road anyway. It could also use a steering system which I failed to make, and it would be cool to add some dummies with animated legs to it, these are the plans if I ever want to update it. Maybe some more configs too like with unrealistically big torque to match how it drives in the show and some other ones. Probably I won't be making any more cars from the Flintstones even though there is a pretty big variety of then, maybe someone else can do it.

Some trivia I found out about this car:
    • 'Canopysaurus' is not just the brand name, but also the vehicle class. (Or maybe just the class and the brand is unknown?) It's a stone age equivalent of today's minivan.
    • The '93 production year probably stands for 9999993 BC.
    • Some cars in the Flintstones universes come with dinosaur powered engines and the legs are only used as starters in them. It is usually reserved for sports and luxury cars.
    • The steering wheel does nothing and nobody knows why it's there.
    Have fun!

this is horrible i love it. heres an idea for turning: lua which just activates thrusters when you try to turn. not realistic but just pretend that the people inside just got out and just pushed the whole thing to turn

It wouldn't work while driving because the wheels are just 2 big rollers that can't change direction, and there would have to be a lot of force since the friction of the rollers is pretty big which is realistic

this is from a show where dinosaurs and caveman lived together and youre questioning the nonexistant physics of it. also cool idea: colorable canopy cloth

I could make it colorable, good idea for a future update if it ever happens

good lord, this is exactly what Beam needs
    amazing work lol
Edit: what if the front roller was on some kind of weird pivot that let it turn by like 10 degrees lol

It can already kinda do that but the turning circle is so huge that it makes zero difference practically, it would need probably at least a 45 degree angle

Yeah Barn, nothing like yabba-dabba-dying in a horrific car crash involving an Ibishu Covet and a Gavril T-Series!
