While your "one more thing that's gonna break" way of thinking is correct, there's also something to contradict it: having more cylinders for the same power and torque figures, generally, puts less stress on each cylinder. It's certainly different having 421hp and 369lb-ft/500Nm from a 2.0 Turbocharged I4 (for example, the AMG M139) than having them from a Naturally Aspirated V8 with 2.5 times that displacement (a 5.0 Coyote for example). Hell, the BMW B58B30 I6 makes these numbers straight out of the box and BMW is famous for underestimating HP ratings!
on the topic of such engines, a handful of Metro 6R4s had their mad v6 engines chucked out in favour of a rover V8. the peak horsepower was actually lower than a standard 6R4, but it made far more torque, and the engine was generally more reliable. unless they're going to pull some yamaha SHO v8 shenanigans, i can't see Ibishu having a V8 to put in the thing.
What if. here me out. High powered inline 3. Maybe as the Basic MR version. I think it will be i4 and V6. As for v8s. i dont think so. ( never say never ) How about a inline 5. Again dont think so but never know. As for other things. I wonder what the next teaser will contain. If it will be the ETK parts shown in July. or more covet goodies. if so maybe the base model ( maybe seeming to bland. and possibly they want to keep some things a suprise )
An Ibishu 2xDOHC V8 (made of two 2.0 DOHC I4s joined around the same crankshaft) would be good for a US luxury subsidiary of the brand. And since you mentioned the Rover V8, an engine like this could be the basis for many different British vehicles in the game, from light Sportscars to Sedans, Limos, SUVs and even crazy engine-swapped City Cars. I'm really curious about seeing how reliable these V8s will turn out to be in BeamNG!
The only extra derivative I see being created is a "2.0 GTz MR" version, with the same 2.0 DOHC I4 but without the turbo - so we're talking about 150hp, just like the FF 2.0 GTz version, but with much better acceleration, grip and handling due to the MR layout. Just fine for filling the Homologation production numbers.
Once again: qa_latest is just some internal dev branch. qa_stable is the one that gets updated when an update actually happens. You can look at the history for qa_latest and see that it gets updated multiple times per day and updates to that mean nothing. Have a nice day nevertheless.
Well ( sorry for posting lots just lots of hype ) I think we have a smaller update. BUT as i LOVE the Covet. It will feel like a bigger update. As said possible tire thermals as well possibly Main missions. BUT other then not not sure. maybe the ETK parts ( if its NOT getting a remaster ) More of bug fixes. Some improvements. Maybe some new skins/configs ON the non remastered cars. I.E like what they did with new Moonhawk parts. and maybe more
We got one etk 800 body part teaser, but I think we will get only Covet Remaster this time. Most teaser points on this
K-series really needs more stuff (engines, bodystyles depending on the model), it's kinda bland. Same with the 800. Really hoping the wait won't be too long.
