good old 70s shitboxes, you can hammer them back into shape and they're no less safe than they were before the crash
'68 but but became a shitbox sometime in the late 70s earlier 80s so i guess your not wrong But judging by some (and i mean some) of the repairs, the condition of the interior and paperwork the first two owners really loved this car, the first owner was actually crushed to death by this car he looked after it that much haha. Second owner lived and gave it to his son, it really went downhill from there...
Wow a man was crushed under the car. Nice to see youre' getting it fixed up, , hope it will be back on the road soon. Today I finally got the title and registration for my 1997 Q45...after 2 months. Got a plate now.
Haven't done it yet, but I'm searching for a welder who is willing to replace the rocker panels on my truck. It's a complete pain in the ass. I'm providing the parts, driving the truck TO THEM, and then paying handsomely for the work to be done right. Nobody wants the job and it's driving me crazy. I can't weld, else I'd just do it myself.
Yeah, thats part of the reason i bought it, you dont get a car with history like that, even better is that the original owners home is only the next street down from mine, the house he died at. Now aint that a coincidence !
Had the radiator soldered back up, done in one day and extremely cheaply, i guess there are still some honest people out there. Then dragged the sunvisor out of the shed, scraped off most of the paint, treated the rust and bogged over it, painted it up and fitted it back onto the car. Looks great. Warmed the car up and the radiator held pressure, so i put it through a few heat cycles, then illegally and carefully drove around the block (no headlight you see) and it went great ! A smidge of advance was all i touched. Oh i missed driving my car New seat covers too, these ones actually work with the old style bench and cover the whole seat And heres a pic of the engine, hadn't shown that yet And the day before all this mess started, not my best picture
Did my first ever carburettor rebuild. Complete success ! I really dont know why "experts" and mechanics say it takes around two days if its your first try, had it back on the car and running in three hours it was that easy. It needed to get done because it was leaking so much fuel everywhere that was only a matter of time before it caught fire Seems that when it was first put together it was a friday afternoon, a lot of stuff wasn't set right and the gaskets were for a different Carter two barrel but thankfully it was pretty clean inside, a byproduct of constant use. Though that accelerator pump looks pretty used up, and check out that headliner
got the dome light working, i tried for an hour earlier to get it working by fixing the light in just the right way, couldn't get done and walked away before i burnt the thing down, then i tried again later when im stoned and pissed, wiggled and jiggled the bastard then it started working, maybe i ought to fix things more often in this state
technically the rims arent today but i cleaned the rims and installed a AEM intake on my 14 Mazda 6. (car itself wat dirty tho in this pic its a bit cleaner now) Tho im super unlucky and every time i clean my car it rains at night and ruins it. Also never made a post but i put some slotted and drilled rotors and high end brake pads on my mazda as i was sick of the stock front rotors turning into pretzels after only two corners on the back roads i sometimes drive on. Intake and exhaust also sounds good. https://youtube.com/shorts/dSKp6JjpV8k?feature=share https://youtube.com/shorts/ubNSdriFRR8?feature=share
I finally got around to finish my project car 1961 Opel Rekord P2 is now officially back on the road again after almost 7 years of restoration. Summer cruising here I come!
Oh very nice, always liked this gen Rekord. Ive just embarked on a daily driver, half restoration, half project car so i can say that damn your patient to last seven years, i barely lasted a few months before i wanted to sell the bloody thing. Good going mate
So uuuh, i bought another car; 1967 Valiant, meet your new friend, 1968 Valiant. All the panels and new stuff are off that car, fish oiled the sills, the the old fan was all bent up so the inferior four blade off the '68 has been put in place, also replacing the windscreen seals, surprisingly however there was only a small amount of rust in the rear and none in the front. The radio sealed the deal with buying the car, if weren't for that radio i would have haggled mightily but godamn i had to have that radio. Pictures speak for themselves
Improvements have been made New rubbers Weather testing, no moisture bought a factory correct (and extremely rare) AM/FM radio from the guy who sold me the parts cars. The keyring is pretty cool, the Regal emblem. Needed some chrome in that engine bay
"Test drove" my mom's 1951 Chevy Truck around our neighborhood (about 15 miles). Was able to take her for a short ride before parking it. Thanks to some significant time in BeamNG, I'd say I was able to handle the clutch efficiently. Truck is a huge handful to drive given the full manual steering, brakes and aforementioned transmission (3 on the tree). Have spent the entire summer with my dad working on it. We changed the electrical system from 6v to 12v, rebuilt the (single barrel) carburetor 3 times and replaced the entire fuel system (this weekend).
I sold my MK4 Jetta (please ask) and got a 07 Trailblazer. Today after 6 months of waiting for the build, I finally got a good bumper on it. Just needs a winch (Harbor Freight) and a radiator skid, then my newest build will be complete.
OK so im back with more updates on the Valiant, finally got around to fixing those rear leafs, new ones were 300 buck each so i just cleaned up my current ones, re arched them and fitted new rubbers and slippers, got rid of the awful extra leafs. Now it no longer bottoms out despite it being super stiff, man going over bumps on a windy day got very exciting at times. Now that the rear has been lifted about 3cm the pinion angles must have gone back to normal, seems a slight vibration that was there has now gone, Yay Brand spanking new, freshly made, never re arched... And after much pain, headaches and skinning-of-knuckles, figured out what that horrible loss of spark/spark scatter at 3000rpm+ was coming from. That brand new, correct for everything, brand new, and brand new Pertronix coil had packed a sad and said fuck working. So now in goes the old "wrong" coil and ballast resistor, previously the engine installer had left the ballast resistor in place with the new coil and that may be why it died but otherwise cant figure out why it did. Anyways it runs good now The offending coil After that was figured out now we (a friend helped) had to time the bloody thing, because the timing tab that hovers just over the harmonic balancer had snaped off and the bastard engine builder had just painted a rough line where tdc was, which was slightly wrong, but that was soon worked out and now it roughly runs at 7-9 degrees intial advance. Before it was way off at around 10 atdc. It cant be precisely timed because the cover had been snapped off but we got it close. Now the centrifugal advance wasn't working quite right so out comes the distributer and i found the advance springs were way too stiff, so down to the hot rod shop we go and got the softest ones they had, which is still too stiff, it fully kicks in at about 2600rpm which is kind of pointless having it that high up in the city considering your usually cruising along at a steady speed by then. At least its now working anyways, eventually ill get around to it again when im fed up with poor economy around the city. Well for the past two months or whatever its been the car has been a reliable, comfortable, quiet everyday car. It only really needs basic periodic maintenance and occasional replacement of stuff, and thats about it, those who laughed at me when i said im going to daily well... laughed, but hey look whos laughing now, i dont have issues with central locking or electric windows freezing or aircon not airconning or when their pathetic front wheel drive thing cant tow a ton worth of wood in a dangerously overloaded trailer and make it up that slight gravel/mud incline... Anyways, all thats to be really badly absolutely needs to be done yesterday is new ball joints, then soon a new idler and pitman arm then thats the front end finished. Hmmm i should probably weld up those big cracks and rust holes under the steering box. Eh cant be bothered
Helped my grandfather wax his truck, a 1974 Ford F-100 Ranger (not XLT). We also cleaned out the interior. Tell me if you want photos of specific parts! Could someone tell me what these are for? I know they’re aftermarket bits courtesy of the first owner (my grandpa’s the second owner of an unrestored truck! I honestly think it’s so cool), he used it for towing & such in the 80s, so it has an 80s radio and aftermarket 80s bumper with a ball hitch, and some West Coast-style mirrors, also clearance lights (those might be factory, I don’t know), and I’m pretty sure the thing under the dash is a CB radio, but I don’t know for sure. I’m also wondering what that switch is. Any ideas? Also, if you want more photos, tell me!
