Hi i want to start a new map and i cant find any info that works....wiki its outdated and in beam documentation only can see info about the editor but not how to do the folder and the new empty map...so if anyone knows any tutorial helpfull i'll apreciate it a lot, thanks
You could start by editing the map called template map with the thumbnail that says “template map replace this” because that’s what the map is for
Thanks for the reply, but now i feel a bit dummy hahaha But then dont need to rename files and all of this things i see in beam wiki? can I erase the terrain and create a new one? And i think its almost empty of assets so i'll watch some tutorial to add things. Doing that at the end its possible to share the map and upload to repos? Thanks! --- Post updated --- doesnt work at all, so yes i can edit this map, but cant share it or upload to repos...only work if its in my folder/0.25/levels. if i put the folder only in mods or in unpacked or other folders dont work, so its a waste of time... Please someone who can really help there? i dont know what to do...
Thats a pity because the editor is good and nice to use, and at the end all win if it was a bit easier, because i enjoy making maps, i enjoy driving on others maps and this is also good for the game itself....i will send a message to devs lets see if then i can do it....or to some people who have maps uploaded in repos, thanks again @Agent_Y
TL;DR cannot exist, so I apologize for the textwall. Spoiler: GETTING A MAP SET UP PART 1: SETUP Create a folder called Levels in 0.25/mods/unpacked/. Copy template.zip from the base content folder. Paste it in the folder you just created. Extract template.zip. Go into the template folder, go into the levels folder that's inside it (your file path should look like this: 0.25/mods/unpacked/levels/template/levels/), click on the template folder, hit Ctrl/CMD+X, and paste in mods/unpacked/levels. Great! You have a level ready to be edited. PART 2: RENAMING Name the folder whatever you wanna name it, like eduteks_map, etc. etc. Go into each art file, click on main.materials.json, and open the Replace function in the text editor of your choice. Set it to replace "template" with "eduteks_map" (or whatever your map file is called). Then go into the "main" folder. Repeat the same process for every file there. Your map should be ready and compatible with any other map. Edit: Glad it helped you. If you need any more help with importing assets from stock maps or whatever, we can just send me a DM.
When i start doing new map i launch game and go to random map then press f11 and from there make totally new map. Then it's kinda empty so then i copy folders from original map .zip files in to the art/ folder of my map. Example buildings, grid, misc, trees, rocks and whatever folder names there is. In every folder has main.materials.info file. You need to change things. You must have notepad++ program. Open that file in some folder, press CTRL + F, then from tab 'replace' and then first box the original map name (italy for example)and second box under it your map name and then press 'replace all'. It doesen't work every time and needs some tinkering. Lot's of missing materials things might occur coz materials in different folder and im bad in that thing lol
But you can't do find and replace in multiple files. Notepad++ is a ton easier. --- Post updated --- Try this tutorial I did. Hope it helps. --- Post updated --- I'm gonna do a more detailed one soon, from start to finish with a full map.
Thanks for all replys, i was a bit ill these days and out of pc, so ill try in a few days, thanks to all!
