That is explained on the documentation. Bounded beams go pretty much only on the suspension and in similar places where you can't use other types. Support beams mainly go wherever you have some unwanted clipping in order to prevent it, like between separable parts or between doors and body. Pressured self explanatory. Anisotropic on special structires like ropes and soft tops. L-beams are used pretty much only on leaf springs and not even on all of them. And torsion bars as the name suggests are used where you want to rigidify a structure in torsion, commonly found on subframes, shock towers and of course sway bars. With enough experience you will know when you need each kind of beam. As for what values are the best for those other kinds of beams compared to the normal beams used on that part... I would like to know that too, I have no idea and I always do trial and error on that lol.

I would like to see if it would be possible to make use of custom FMOD banks for mods. Or just to get a reason why, if it is not possible. :)

    Topic ideas:

    - talking about possibilities related to getting dynamic terrain? (or why not is it possible)
-Also, talking about tires - temperature, wearing (technical side, why and how it would be possible, etc)

To be honest with you I'd love to participate. Unfortunately I don't think my knowledge is good enough for explaining stuff though. I'd still enjoy sessions like that. (especially when someone explains how the material system works in-depth because i don't get it lol)

Definitely interested in attending. However, if I am unable to attend, I'd love to be able to view a recording.

A guide for this has been requested before, however the devs are reluctant to share this because as soon as they share how to do this, they are locked into doing it that way for a significant amount of time so that they can keep support for mods which use the system. They don’t feel the current way of doing it is as good as it can be, so they don’t plan on releasing information on how to do it.

Would be interested in this. I'm looking for more functions in the variable system like Agent_Y described (and being able to hide values in the menu). Besides that I'm also interested in more advanced repository functions like dependency's on other mods and some more.

Im in, im not much expert in creating, but have experience in modifying. Would be also cool if we got a bit complex explanation of some stuff that was simplified in update notes. Like this
"• Improved how node frictionCoef and slidingFrictionCoef, node properties affect groundmodel physics". As a gt3 mod dev, this is crucial to me to understand to what way was the change. Also some of tyre variables are not documented. Maybe i could throw some ideas and views to the topic

    This sounds interesting.
Would love to get some insight into stopping my Jbeam files settings from bleeding into other Jbeam files, and messing up the default cars in game,
When using special beam types and their settings.

A workshop going a bit in depth into some of the lesser well known about things and upcoming/current changes would certainly be quite helpful, if I got time on whatever date is specified, I’d like to tune in
It should however be some time on the weekends as I don’t really have time during the week apart from the end of November.

One more vote for point 3 of update 3 :
    • incomplete / missing documentation: What bits do you want explanation for? What should be documented?
Better explanation of some transmission jbeam values would be easier to understand atleast for me. Also some things you can tune i found from various mods that straight up are missing from the wiki such as:

    torqueConverterDelayLockupMin/MaxThrottle
    torqueConverterThrottleLockupRange
    modernATRevThrottle
    torqueConverterlockupIdleCoef

And more. Probably there are more that i haven't even heard about.

I would be very interested in this, especially when it comes to learning and understanding how the engine thermal model and the simulation work. Also, I have a special interest in how we can take things further, like adding proper oil and water pressure, more detailed engine wear, and the simulation of all the other components of a real ICE.

Engine wear and abuse damage is already a thing (similarly for the whole powertrain) but it's not implemented in freeroam because it would take so long to actually do any damage that it's not worth it I guess. Maybe it's in career mode but so far nobody has driven for long enough to confirm, you need thousands of kilometers to start noticing a difference.
