Wow that thing is slow. Have you been able to find an old test where someone recorded 0-60 time on a new model? Surely it was faster than that when it was new... Maybe start by cutting off the catalytic converter.
Well, it has a blown head gasket so I'm sure it's down on compression. From what I can find, the 1994 Grand Prix SE with the 3100 is 8.7 seconds 0-60. Mine is a 1992, but they're basically the exact same. 3100, 4-speed, heavy as fuck for a coupe.
Theres no way it should be that slow, thats comically down on power. Good thing is that it wouldn't be too hard to pull the heads on that if you wanted to, even easier to just dump a can of stopleak in it considering what the end goal of this car is.
Yup, I mentioned previously this has a blown headgasket. It already has some sealer in it. I just need it to run long enough to get me through the race in October.
halloween profile pic here we come damn i should be more active here, i'm not sure if anyone remembers me, i used to be really quite active 2014-19ish then just dropped off. happy to confirm i'm still alive. (i think).
Honestly not a terrible video (I mean bc it’s actually funny) https://www.youtube.com/shorts/T9iU9EOatRE
Well, I did not complete the whole race. I completed 34/100 laps before I was taken out of the race. Running position was 4th out of 22 with multiple fastest laps against cars with almost twice the power of my Grand Prix. I was spun out starting in turn 2 and hit in the passenger side door. The spin caused oil to make its way to the top of the cylinders fouling out the plugs and I couldn't get the car to re-fire. Runs fine today, I'll be back next year.
Love it! Tough luck for the race, but at least the car is still intact and running after being in top 5 your entire time in. Sounds like a good night! You didn't finish but you left in one piece. Sometimes that's the best outcome. I am curious... Do those angle irons really hold up well to impact? Not sure how comfortable I'd be sitting behind those. Is it some rule of the class you are running or something you added out of your own concern for safety? Are they secured only by the fasteners, I'm guessing for easy removal? I'd make plates to spread weight across the windshield edge, but that's just me! Do you have any race videos? Would love to see that!
