The irony is that most people defending paid mods on here probably also use 123movies or similar websites.

    first of all, source ?
Secondly, it's not the same pirating a marvel movies where actors are paid millions anyways and pirating a mod made by a single person in it's spare time.

Not me, I have subscriptions to Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+. No double standards here.

I don't even know what that is and if it's legal or not, I assume some pirating website. But movie studios don't care if someone takes away 0.0001% of their profit, pirating a mod would take away a much larger percentage since way less people buy them overall

123movies had almost 100 million users at its peak. You claim you didn't know what it is, so why pull figures out of thin air?

That's not a lot for the amount of people that watch films. Also not all of their incomes come from actually watching the movie, there are the ads, etc.

How can people see the ads if they don’t watch the movie?
100 million users is a colossal amount. To put it into perspective, Avengers End Game (highest grossing film of all time) netted around 100 million watchers worldwide.

This is the biggest argument I've seen. No matter what we do, people are still going to be against paid mods and pirate them. Just do whatever, the efforts are for nothing.

Please remember that pirating a movie belonging to a massive media company owned by an international conglomerate and pirating a passion project made by some random anon are very different things

The theme I've noticed with people who are angry or frustrated with modders offering paid content is that they feel entitled to all content ever produced for a game that they paid for. Seems like a logical fallacy that their support of the developers of a title translates to them deserving free content from 3rd party developers. With that same logic I could say 'I paid for my computer, therefore I deserve to be able to use whatever software I want without paying for it'. No, I don't deserve that.

The other argument that people producing paid high-quality content are 'ruining this community' seems like some defense mechanism or bully tactic to try to get their way. I don't believe it's greedy for someone to charge a (fair) price for something they have worked hard on. I do believe it's greedy for people to demand mods are all free.

To threaten a modder who releases paid content with the jeer 'it's gonna get leaked anyway' or 'I'll just pirate it anyway' is pointless. Yes, evil people will do evil things. There is no moral issue with selling a product but there is a moral issue with theft and hateful speech. Good morals won't corrupt a community, poor morals will.

We are fortunate to have many high-quality mods that are offered for free, but we don't deserve any of them. Someone is doing us a favor by sacrificing their time to release something they made for free. If I can't afford to spend a few dollars on someones mod then I should enjoy what I already have and not become so materialistic. If happiness and joy comes from what material items we possess we will live an unsatisfied life.

I agree, there are shady people selling reused assets or other peoples work. That isn't right. There are also people selling low-quality mods for high prices. A smart consumer will avoid those products. But if someone is able to create amazing content that I can enjoy for hours at a fair price, I want to support that person. If someone is able to feed their family, pay their rent, save for retirement or whatever with some extra money they make from a passion project... I support that.

That is my two cents. Don't give the trolls any attention. I have loved this community for almost 10 years. Of course there will be unsavory people who come along the way, but there are plenty of generous kind people who make it shine again.

    Love y'all.

Straight to the point, arguments that make sense, no will to cause drama, everything about this message is right.

I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one to say that we need more people like you on the forums :)

Can we, like, turn it into a copy-pasta that we'd post below any of such threads?

Thanks LucasBE, I should be more active. I've enjoyed the fruits of BeamNG for too long to not be a positive contributor in some way...

Feel free to, with caution. I don't want people to feel attacked. It's important we try to have clear heads when discussing these issues that keep popping up. I have been on the opposite side of arguments where I was blind or ignorant to the other sides perspective, so I recognize the importance of remaining humble and sympathetic. People angry about paid mods are still people. It can be easy to not care or be kind to them when we disagree with their points.

As LucasBE stated in some older post, people are free to disagree and share their thoughts. Our love for this game brought us together, we can always sort out our differences if we return to that root.
