Nice car! What is the black sphere on the driver side A-pillar? I've never seen something like it before, it doesn't look like a police searchlight and not like an extra mirror, but I might be wrong.

Well even then thats still pretty hefty by modern standards. My corolla only weighs around 900kg, which is still pretty new
As far as I'm aware, 1100-1300 kg is perfectly reasonable for small (or smaller) cars. My Clio weighs around 1200 kg and it's pretty small, larger sedans weigh more but not a lot more, anywhere from 1200 kg to 1700 kg. (Electric cars can be even heavier, a Tesla model 3 is around 1800 kg maybe a bit more) A quick search on Google gave this table for Toyota Corolla weights, I'm not sure how accurate this is, and there are probably lighter versions depending on whether it's the hatchback, sedan, what engine and transmission, and so on. however 900 kg sounds a bit too light to me.
Aye. I've had small cars my entire life (8 total), and they've all ranged from 1100-1300 kg, with only two exceptions: Mitsubishi Mirage coupe - 945kg (Best cheap used car I ever bought. Good mileage, ice-cold A/C, relatively fun to drive and not a single problem until the transmission blew itself to pieces after I had driven it for 3 years. Not bad for $900.) BMW 128i convertible - 1500kg (Most recent acquisition, posted about it earlier in this thread. Also the first car I've ever owned with more than four cylinders. That also means I've never owned a car with a "V" engine. Have owned two V-twin motorcycles, though.)
Actually ive realized my corolla is nearly 30 years old so i guess that would be a very good reason why its so light. Really doesn't seem that old though, just never noticed it age...

Yeah, my parents bought it used in 2006 and for most of the time it’s been our second car, just being driven around occasionally. I sure hope that it’s gonna be good for a lot more kilometers!
There’s a late 80s Toyota Corolla SR5 sitting next to my neighbor’s garage. I might buy it. It needs some work, but boy, would it be worth it. 5-speed manual? Yes please. Pop-up headlights? Yes please. 1980s? Yes please. Toyota? I guess. Corolla? Yes, I drive a 2004 Corolla currently, it would be cool to have an old one along with an older one. Yes it needs some work before it’s drive-able (I mean it runs, but it would need a new windshield, new headlight mechanisms, etc.) Other thoughts?

I'd leave it stock (except for the rims, they're trash). I don't like customizing old cars too much. heres the closest photo I could find (same rims, same condition, same color, same body-colored bumpers, same coupe) its not the exact one, but its the exact same
