Hi, I made a diesel version. 125nm/92lb-ft and 63hp/46kw, based on the real verison that has a Volkswagen 1.9 diesel

Thanks a bunch for your suggestions!

Will definitely do dds in the next batch.

I remember seeing videos of ppl driving it IRL and they seemed to turn the wheel a couple of times each direction to the full lock, so I went with 1000 degrees each way (less than 3 turns actually). I don't know really, don't know anyone who owns it and can tell me...

The wheel max angle is something I definitely keep changing from time to time and I'm kinda torn about it. I like when the angle is large, that way the van can literally do a u-turn on a one lane street, but then highway driving sucks big big time, since every slight turn of the steering wheel makes it go off the road. Hence the big steering angle. So then I changed it to something smaller (used to be way less btw, but that wasn't practical on tighter streets) and raised the steering wheel angle to somehow make it work on both highway and tight turns...

As for the weight distribution and stuff, I'm redoing the jbeam (with the help of the discord server) according to AgentY's suggestions, so weight distribution is something that I'll take into consideration.

i personally think that it needs more steering angle i had to do a 3 to 6 point turn to go up the dirt trail by the garage in utah

Crazy to think that derivatives of this van remained in production up through 2010.

Sorry for the bump but my Red Cross only appears when the headlights are on. Any ideas on how to fix?

It's just way too transparent to see normally and not visible unless you look very hard. I hope it will be fixed in next update

if this mod had this front like in the picture, it would be pretty nice and to have like a "late production model" but it would be very hard to make a completely new grille, bumper and headlights (but i think the other ones could be reused)
    just a simple little suggestion

    In the photos below UAZ-452
It has been produced from 1965 to the present day, having transferred several facelifts.

    Update (see the main post):
    • improved front suspension geometry and overall stability. the car might still struggle with handling, but that's expected. I should say I cheated here and there...
    • the red cross (old ambulance version) should be displayed correctly now. Let me know if the transparency is still an issue.
    • added the barebones "factory" passenger version.
    • colors adjustable on versions where it makes sense (passenger, flatbed, van, com), predefined where it doesn't (police, ambulance, hearse, fire...)
    • cargo on the flatbed version - wooden crate (200kg+) or wooden planks (1.4T+)
    • added stronger springs and shocks, as well as better brakes and radiator if you want to play around with the cargo on flatbed. The springs have adjustable height.
    • removed the tarp roof from the flatbed version. it's fugly. If you want, you can still stich it together from the old version, go ahead.
    • fixed some console warnings, not sure what the remaining ones are about, dunno how to fix em
    • textures in dds format mostly. was told it's better that way. wanted to include the cdae model file instead of dae (4x less size), but the game won't display the car that way, so I guess that's not doable.
Clear the cache if something seems to be broken.

EDIT: I totally forgot, I completely re-jbeamed the main body and a lot of parts (doors, ...) so it deforms...hopefully better. I personally like how it folds in crashes. The overall mass is a bit higher, which is a bummer, can be fixed by either playing with springs and damps more and lowering the mass a bit, or by making the beams more deformable.

Also, I fixed the windows so that they properly break along with the collision triangles, hopefully I didn't miss anything.

Great to see you back, but please, add the Soft Roof back and the ability to change the colors on the Ambulance, I've made an Military Config.

    Either way, love your work!
