The Miramar is an executive car. If you look at the actual dimensions it's enormous. Just because it has a sports version doesn't make it a sports car. Before you talk about the skyline, that was a premium midsize that, when paired with an amazing engine and the normal race stuff, was great on track. 99% of skylines were sold as family cars for the upper middle class, similar to a modern 3 series. Not to mention the Miramar is much bigger.

Having a lineage of old cars with Flat engines is a great reason for the Hirochi brand to make Flat engines its brand staple and remastering the Sunburst to feature them is further gonna solidify the "Boxer brand" identity of the brand in the BeamNG lore!

Having a history of boxer/flat engines is just an example of a 60s/70s flirtation with them. Most brands that used them at that time - Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Citroen, Chevrolet, BMW, even Ferrari - are now out of the boxer game.

Also, how do you fit one transversely?

I know. I just think that Hirochi could become the Boxer brand because we already have numerous cars in the game to feature the "FWD transverse I4" layout, so the Sunburst could be the car to break this monotony - we have no car with a front-mounted Flat engine powering either the front or all of the wheels.
Also no, Boxers can't be fitted transversely indeed. But the Sunburst remastering can be a great opportunity for redesigning it to be powered by Boxers instead of Inlines.

There are some exceptions (LeGran to some degree), but usually, the devs avoid getting that close to real-life cars. Gavril is not Ford or Chevrolet, Hirochi is not Subaru, Mitsubishi, or Mazda, ETK is not BMW, etc., even if there are similarities.

I mean yeah, but ETK is still the I6 brand and Gavril is still the I6/V8 brand, so it kinda gets there by itself. That's my way of thinking.

One of the newer devs (Jared?) said if he was here earlier on he would have pushed hard to get a boxer Sunburst, so it isn't impossible. It is extremely unlikely for the SBR4 and the Suburst to have engines with different layouts and the same rough displacement and # of cylinders during the same time period.

Judging by the fact that he wasn't part of the Dev team when the Sunburst was being developed and got introduced in the game (around 2015), he isn't that new. But he still is newer than other Devs.

So, back in my more argumentative days, I wrote a post about how this thing is "really wide", at a supposed 1.58 m wide.

Turns out that I was a muppet and was measuring the Picco's width with the wide race fenders. In its original 110 form, the Piccolina's only 1.51 m wide. That's still quite thick compared to things like the Fiat 850 saloon (1.425 m), which is of similar length to the Picco 110 (3.575 m vs. 3.56 m).

However, the Picco's dimensions are shockingly similar to the first-gen Fiat 127's. They've got near-identical wheelbase lengths (2.225 m for the 127 vs. 2.22 for the Picco), and their widths (1.525 vs 1.51) and lengths (3.59 vs 3.56) are a centimeter or three different. And their weights (705 kg vs. 740 kg) are only about 30 kilos different, too.

Speaking of wide small cars, the Wigeon is almost as wide as the base Picco, at 1.5 m, while being a measly 2.77 m long (2.84 m with the LX's mudflaps). The base Pigeon is a lot thinner, though, at just 1.34 m - but it's quite a bit longer, at 3.28 m. I knew the Wigeon was the smallest car in the game, but wow, is it a short little thing.

Anyway, just a few things I thought y'all would find interesting. (The Pigeon/Wigeon don't have a thread for them yet, so the Picco's thread will have to do.)

Yes, that's exactly what I'm thinking - a lot of IRL car companies tend to stick to specific engine and drivetrain types, and there's a similar theme going on with the Beam vehicle brands.

Hirochi's the only company with more than one vehicle where this isn't the case - the SBR4 and Sunburst might as well come from completely different car companies, with how different they are. There is a reason why the Sunburst has a transverse L4 layout, though.

The Piccolina is more so related to a VW Beetle but styled and sold by Italians.
Like it is literally a Beetle that just looks like a Fiat 500/600 which is exactly how they skew the design of all their cars.
Edit: its not the exact same, but the similarities are their. The devs like to mix in a lot of similar cars' quirks when they make something new.

I'm aware of that - I just found it interesting that the Picco's dimensions and weight are so similar to a car about 15 years newer than it with a completely different drivetrain.

Similarities from both are there, but the beetle is bigger than the piccolina but is bigger than the fiat 600. I'd say that its looks more like a fiat 600 because, the beetle head lights are lower and the picconila's decklid + interior looks more similar to the fiat 600. Also the hood and the Baja config is like the VW beetle, But that's just my opinion.

The Piccolina could use a US spec version with an MPH speedometer.

A version with the i4 engine from the LeGran as the real Fiat 600 does would be great.
Also, atm the turbo keeps making pressure even when the turbo exhaust is ripped apart.
