Update Speculation thread

"I want it" is not evidence for it. There are plenty of us who find an entire new class of content anything but disappointing. Having actual race cars in a racing game would be amazing for those of us who have been asking for such things for 10 years now.

All that aside, who is to say this will only be one vehicle? It's some off road bits mounted to a tube frame. The T-Rex buggy/truggy/car/ultra4/whatever-it-is also matches that description, there's a good chance they will be placed together in the vehicle files. Not really sure why it's even important that they be together in the first place though. The D10 Charro has like 4 configs, would it have changed how exciting it was if they were on their own in the vehicle selector? Or if any of the superbuilds ended up on their own in the vehice selector?

Besides, that won't even change with an accompanying street truck anyway. The Bastion's engines are in the common folder and that's the only thing these even could potentially share.

 

Since you mentioned the Charro, a version with the 5.5 V8 to bridge the gap between the D10 with the 4.5 V8 and the D10 423 Sport would be nice. Same for the Kentarch too, for bridging the gap between the base D10 Kentarch and the D30.

 

the charro needs the old skin back, with the bed cap the same color as below the trim (it should be a separate skin, not a replacement)

 

The little Charro needs some attention in general, but with how much the D-Series got during the remaster and how bored some of the community was getting by the final phase of that, I doubt it'll get the attention it deserves any time soon. For example, I would love to see a Class 3 Charro to go with all the off road content coming up.

 

Yeeeees, this paint design needs to return and I have no idea why it got away actually!
It also needs some chrome trim on the tailgate, for further distinguishing it from the rest of the D-Series lineup.

Well, maybe now is the time to get the attention it deserves! The Class 3 Charro, for example, would be great since it's the body style with the shortest wheelbase!

 

Maybe the trophy trucks, crawlers and offroad racing trucks will be moved into their own "custom" category, and separated from the D-Series.

 

If the Charro is based on 80s and early 90s Ford Bronco, it could be a 2021 Ford Bronco.

Whenever it comes out, all will be fine when I go on the new map with the specific task of finding Rexy.

 

But it means a single vehicle can use bodyshells from various different vehicles, even if their stock version isnt in the game yet.

 

Because some people don't do that much offroading

 

As for myself, I've been waiting for a Charro-based rock crawler, but this would be most welcome as well!

And having both trophy truck and street legal truck would appeal to some others

 

The difference is that no one is saying "I hope we get a tube frame heist truck because it would be disapointing and a waste to only get a street legal version of the Autobello truck"

 

Exactly, the trophy truck is nice to have but not as much requested as a full production model, what the majority of the community seems to desire

 

I dont mean to crush your hopes, but another civilian pickup has a few points speaking against it:

- The D-Series exist and in late configuration has factory mounted ESC, similar to what a 2022 Pickup truck would have.

- The D-Series is really fat in content in general which is great but leaves comparable little room for yet another pickup that is "only" 15 - 17 years younger.

- D+H-Series and the Roamer further expand on a relative comparable chassis and engine base.


I am not saying that I am against a more modern pickup, I am just saying that it might have some issues with being cannibalized/cannibalizing the D-series.


Of course there is one reason that speaks for a more modern pickup vehicle: A reason some forum users are not going to like but that doesnt make it less valid:

The D-Series is to old an vehicle to be realistically electrified. You are going to want a brand new chassis for that.


This could also explain the lack of info about the civilian version. It will come much later, possible after the full introduction of electric drivetrains and their quirks into the game which in itself is not a small task.

 

If we judge what should go in the game based on that then we wouldn't get any content...

The Scintilla got push back for being "just a fast car to appease the children, we want volume cars because that's what makes the game unique!"
The Bastion got push back because "we have too many big American cars!"
The Wendover got a ton push back because "it's just a LeGran!"
The Charro got push back because "The devs give too much attention to the D-Series!"

The Autobello bus and the XTV are the first new vehicles in ages that I haven't seen anyone really complaining about.

Yes a lot of people want a modern pick up. But a lot of people don't either. Just look on the subreddit any time there's any pick up truck related content at all. It's always "why are the devs doing this when the D-Series has so much already". I guarantee you that reddit/youtube/twitter comments will be full of that when a modern truck does come.

I understand that not everyone is into the trophy truck. That is fine, they can speak freely about that. But it is incredibly immature to say "the team needs to do X because I'll be disappointed and not interested if any content at all isn't what I personally want". Those people need to understand that there are others who are looking forward to it. The sim racing community around here has been asking for dedicated racing platforms for years, and non-street car content in general is pretty common to see suggested. Remember everyone asking about a gen 3 stock car Wendover? Or the excavator incident? Or the mass suggestions for a modern monster truck over the years?. One of the top posts on the subreddit this week is a request for literal military tanks...

The trophy truck is probably going to get fiberglass BODIES that represent different in-game automakers
