    Is there anyway to have it where your mod Jbeam files are in an umcompressed file that the game can find so each time you make an edit you reload the car in-game and it updates from the uncompressed file vs having to compile a zip file every time you make an edit?

    I must be really dumb but I just can't figure out how to do this in modern BeamNG.

    If you keep your unzipped mod in a folder called "unpacked" inside of your mods folder whenever you make jbeam edits hitting Ctrl R will update it in game

    It seems I had to build a .zip file then inside the game I had to "Unpack" it then it would transfer it to "unpacked" and the game would recognize it allowing me to do what I wanted.

    However if I manually place the mod in "Unpacked" it doesn't.

    Make sure the folder structure within unpacked is correct. That might cause issues with manually unpacked mods.

    Should be:
    Unpacked->modfolder->vehicles->vehiclename

    With all your files in the last folder.

    Yeah, I've done that. Still only works if I compile a zip for the game to recognize in the "Repo" folder.
    Then proceed to "Unpack" it in-game.. then it will recognize the mod in Unpacked after the game moves it.

    If I do it manually in the "Unpacked" folder.. it doesn't work, nothing is different.

    For development you can use the vehicles folder in the BeamNG userfolder too.

    Maybe you need to modify the db.json file, you could try to delete the entry for your mod and see if the game regenerates it correctly

    Yeah in rare cases that file can mess stuff up, especially if you have mods that have other zip files inside of them. Although the file can be massive so could be hard to find the mod in question, might be easier to delete the whole file and let the game regenerate it

    That file you speak of doesn't exist in this case.
