What is going on with the BeamNG community these days? Basically there's cringe crash compilations and YouTube content for 8 year-olds and below, drama in the forums, paid meshslaps "made" with zero effort by greedy people, etc. I want to know what is the cause of these shenanigans and feel free to discuss your opinions. Thanks.
The game is just becoming more popular and attracting more people, and not all of them have good intentions
Happens to most games, the popularity allows the game to improve, but draws morons in like a moth to a light. The formerly popular game 'Among Us' is a good example of this. I had the chance to play it a while before it blew up, and it was a simple and fun game. Easy to just get and play. Haven't played it in around a year or two, but seeing a few of my mates hop on, you have to do a ton of crap to play it (make an account, be above a certain age to chat, etc.). This happens quite often.
Might start my own youtube channel that focuses on stock content, high-quality free and paid mods and technical aspects of the simulation, but until then, have a look at Forgotten Mustard
Growing popularization leads to an increased playerbase, this therefor increases the amount of people wishing to exploit the game exponentially as the ratio of playerbase:toxic content increases as overall players increase due to more and more oppurtunities being presented. From there, the greedy people (referred to locally as 'Robber Pirates' where I am from) flood in en masse and attempt to immediately take up as much space as possible while exploting it for everything that it is worth. This can be found in the YouTube section with kids videos designed to essentially be stimulation videos for mindless children, and in the Paid Mods section, where demand for mods increases with increased player count, and by promising that Paid = Quality (a quote that is misleading at best and blatent scam at worst) you can draw more people into handing over their credit card for content that 8 months ago would have been given to you for free
BeamNG has been like this for the past 6 or 7 years. The only new thing is the advent of mods distributed through discord or modland. Paid mods are new too
Ha, robber pirates. I've got to STEAL that one. But yes, it seems that the children have a large hand in ruining the community. Which is why I've come back to the solution of tossing them all off of formation-flying C130s into the ocean while blasting Fortunate Son. Donate to make it happen here - www.tossingthemoronsoffofc130s.com (not a real link)
Sometimes it seems that the majority of BeamNG players are 5-15 years old based on this forum and Youtube videos. And it's a bit annoying because they're usually also the loudest with "good ideas" and wishlists. Hopefully BeamNG will not suffer the same fate as Forza Horizon, which has become as if made for children.
I think it's just the byproduct of being popular, as the community grows it's bound to attract people without the best interests. YouTube content farm channels and shitty paid mods are usually to make a quick buck, and drama in large, established communities is kinda unavoidable as there's more people to disagree with things. There's also mobile game ads passing off BeamNG footage as their own but it's nothing new, before that it was Forza or GTA. And of course, there's always the kids who only know it as "funny car crash simulator" and as such, complain when they can't take a turn at 100mph or harass creators with "when lombargine mod releas now"
"It's not automation, I have the file in the attic under a pile of boxes" "I have modl fore big and smol litnin mackeen" "Who has Thomas the tank engine mod" "Make me a lightning mackeen mod or else I will hunt you down and I'll get my mommy on you" These are the types of stuff these children would say and smokey is right, I have defended these people but they do deserve to be thrown off c130s or whatever they are. This community has become crazy. I have an idea to filter off kids accounts. Make up a random math question designed for people above 12 year olds that you cant find the answer to on Google and boom, that will filter off kids and people who will be willing to contribute to the forums
I'm sorry to say this, but that isn't possible due to this website - https://www.wolframalpha.com/ It's never failed me.
A math question probably wouldn't be the best way to work this, but we absolutely need better screening.
more popular = more restrictions = more fans = money. thats why they dont like ban the 8 yr olds or delete those threads.
crash compilations have always been a thing because kids love smashing stuff and they usually dont have a computer to actually play the game remember when we had the disagree button? just bringing that back would probably get rid of most negative comments and the drama that they create
oh god! as a chinese player, i know what do you mean! in "douyin" (we called tiktok like this) , "kuaishou" (it's similar to tiktok) and "xigua" (it copied youtube). there are many bad videos from some uploaders. they just download others video, dubbing videos and adding silly stories!they even haven't buy the game and just called BeamNG "crash simulator"! what makes me angry is they have lots of viewers! you know this happend on GTA and Forza Horizon before! in china, we called this kind of people "yunwanjia" which means "players on clouds". This statement comes from GTAOL, the camera is looking at the clouds when the game is loading. but in china, it's difficult to enter the game if you don't use tools to boost the network. little by little, "yunwanjia" is used to describe a person who has never played a game and still talks freely. and most of "yunwanjia" are "xiaoxuesheng". "xiaoxuesheng" is just like "children". of course, this doesn't used to describe this age group but someone do this kind of silly things. so if you see these kind of people again, please report them.If unfortunately, they are Chinese, use the following words to swipe them! yunwanjia:云玩家 xiaoxuesheng:小学生 such you a xiaoxuesheng:你个小学生 Representative of the person who stole the video: 菜鸡大叔的个人主页 - 西瓜视频 (ixigua.com) 蚂蚁哥游戏说的个人主页 - 西瓜视频 (ixigua.com) Sadly, there are many such people
