Early Experimental Preview of Career Concept

    All my mods are disabled and I have tried to uninstall and reinstall, I'll make a copy of all my data and try another fresh install without any of it. I managed to do a workaround for switching cars by editing the career lua (vehicle switching was disabled in there) but the garage is still not working. Thank you for your reply and I'll try to get it working and update back here with my results. Thank you.

    Not sure what it was but getting rid of all saves and basically starting completely fresh has fixed the issue :) thank you.

    Just learned about the hidden career and played several hours.

    My thoughts on Career .27:
    • It’s about damn time! Jeez.
    • Keep it 100% real and sim!!! NOT sim-cade, dumbed down or arcade!!
    • Understanding it’s state, what’s in .27 career I find all excellent; you're off towards a fantastic full game.
    • I LOVE being forced to see and use different vehicles; I see variety as one of the game engine’s main strengths.
    • Only barely add crutch OPTIONS for those sim-cade/arcade people.
    • Take and leverage the best ideas already done in other games.
    • You already have tons of suggested, fresh ideas; I hope many get implement and in an interesting meaningful manner.
    • If one fails a ‘mission’ 10 or more times, have the game detect this and give the player progressively OPTIONAL ‘easier’ end goals.
    • You will not make anyone 100% happy with this game.
    • I HIGHLY disliked your animated cartoon Campaign story art style; use in game graphics instead please.

    I'm glad you found the hidden Easter egg!

    Thank you for the kind words and support for our team's efforts as well. Personally I agree with everything you've said, so rest assured you have someone, "on the inside" trying to make sure we get all of these points and more built into the game as we move forward next year!     I've always pictured BeamNG's career/story mode like this:
    •Your character is moving from East Coast, USA to West Coast, USA with a beat up single cab D-Series towing their beloved Covet on a trailer behind them. Along their journey, the transmission finally throws in the towel in Utah, USA. This is where the game begins. Your character is low on funds and isn't able to pay the mechanic for a new transmission, so they offer you to do some work with their wrecker in exchange for the repairs and a place to sleep until the parts for the repairs come in. From there the map opens up where you can do missions for the mechanic, food delivery runs in the Covet, races, etc. Once the repairs are made and the mechanic is satisfied with your work in exchange, you continue the journey to West Coast, USA and the mechanic gives you some contacts in that area if you need any help with your vehicles. Once you reach WC-USA, you settle into your new place and can start applying for contracts in various fields using company vehicles until you can purchase your own. The further you progress in particular areas, the more income you can generate until you can purchase your own vehicle in that given field (Commercial vehicles like dump trucks, cement trucks, construction contractor pickups, taxis, etc)
    On the side, you'd have the freedom to build up your Covet (or something else) for motorsports (or illegal street racing) to earn extra income. As you progress even further, options for relocating to different maps become available to your character that each provide unique opportunities depending on the location.
    Since motorsports seems to be a large focus on the content released with almost every update, I can see this being a huge opportunity to have a really in depth racing career pathway in nearly every category the player might choose.
    There is so much potential to be had with the content already in the game.

    That's a really great storyline, I could imagine it would be a lot of fun, and it's the sort of thing I hope to see brought to life through mods in the coming future!

    I really like it but think limiting it to the USA is quite....well...limiting. Almost every game is set there and it would be interesting if there was a way to make it a more worldwide sort of game. Nice storyline though ;)

    The only Map that isn't USA is italy so...


    But i still have an idea , especially since there's a boat asset (wich i think isn't used on any vanilla maps) :


    Somewhere in west coast's Doc or east coast, there will be some boat. Then you'll be able to pay a ticket ( 100$ or so ) to go in other country.

    2. But it doesen't even have a river and highway is short and closed so it wouldn't make sense

    ETK Test Center, Automation Track, Cliff, Italy and Jungle Rock Island already are non USA maps,
    and hopefully in the future they will expand even further. Hence my point.The USA is extremely overdone in video games and a more worldwide centric story would be amazing.

    well, it’s probably because of how big the USA is compared to countries in the rest of the world, there’s more you can create when you use the US in video games.
