I'm just wondering if I can set a modifier key for a controller. What I mean is while a button is held down, the controller temporarily switches to another layout. My issue is that all the buttons on my controller are bound to something, but I want to add a binding for first person walking view, and I may want to add more bindings in the future depending on content updates. It's not a big deal since my keyboard is right in front of me, it would just be nice to not have to take my hands off the controller for something I use regularly.
You could try manually editing your controller inputmaps file in the settings folder, as far as I know if you put 2 buttons separated by space instead of 1 it will work like you need to click both at the same time. At least it works with Alt and Ctrl on the keyboard.
For now there's only support for key combos using shift/alt/ctrl keys. Any other kind of combination would require a deep rewrite of the input system, and so I'm afraid it's not in our roadmap for BeamNG.drive v1.
Is there any update on this? We really needs more control inputs via a modifier button mapped with our gamepads please.
There are a lot of cool gamepad and other input tools for windows. Take a look here: https://github.com/AntiMicroX/antimicrox
Well, it's on the ToDo list... but you don't want to know how long that list is... and neither do I tbh. To be clear we WANT this to happen, we just can't atm.
No, that's a private listing and includes confidential information we cannot legally disclose. I can show this: That ^ is not a complete ToDo list either... that's only a partial list (we have many more tasks tracked in other different software).
Looks like fun haha. I am curious as to what's first priority right now though. Maybe making Vulkan stable.. I need to continue doing my thing with Vulkan sometime soon, I miss it now lol
