i think someone should make a working excavator because it would be very fun to use and crush cars with.
Tbh it's probably possible with some trickery, since the World Editor is LUA-based so the terrain editor tools could be accessible from the vehicle LUA somehow, specifically the one that cuts out a hole in the terrain based on mesh shape could be used here, tracks are also possible for heavy vehicles, we have skid steer on the Wydra, realistic hydros and stuff are already WIP for the T-Series, so at this point an excavator should be fully possible but very tricky to make
I've actually experimented with this before. Terrain manipulation is actually not simply a function called by the world editor. It requires a TerrainEditor() object to be created: to be configured: and to be executed during a frame: Unfortunately this does not work and I still don't know why exactly.
If you can figure it out you can make a working excavator then, until then one that doesn't dig but still works otherwise is still possible
I'm working on a knuckleboom crane for the stambello at the moment, should I be worried about the performance impact with the new hydraulics?
Nice idea and i was think of it,too. But i don't have too many skills to do it,may i only make a excavator prop, right,a prop.To use them, you can't make any interesting mistake with it,you only can do is drop it or driving a car to crash it.Sorry,i let everybody down.
well i think this thread is telling us that we will have an excavator and terrain deformation pretty soon and you are one message away from your 3k messages milestone
I don’t think terrain deformation will be a thing too soon but I guess they are working on it. An excavator would be cool anyways, especially with the hydraulics system being developed
You shouldn’t get ahead of yourself. If we look at this from a different perspective all that was “said” is that a developer has the same interests as us. We shouldn’t assume that this means they’ll put effort into it, since there is so many other things to sort out. But hey, worth a shot tdev
