Logitech G27- is it worth it?

I play many racing and driving games and always consider wanting one. It is now near the stage where I am able to get one and am considering a G27. What are your thoughts of it? Any pros or cons? Also the final question, is it worth getting one?

 

Yes it defiantly is. To me it makes the game even more enjoyable

Get the G27 you won't regret it

 

For BeamNG it's better to use a controller, but if you play racing games that aren't arcadey like Assetto Corsa then the G27 is a must have.

 

I always play BeamNG with my wheel, makes it much more enjoyable for me although there is no FFB yet.

But i definitely recommend it, if you want a nice and reasonably priced wheel (compared to the Clubsport etc...) this is the one to go with

I've been wanting a G27 for a looong time. And yes, I have used one. (Or maybe it was a G25 or something, I don't remember.) I've also had a wheel before, but it was a shitty old Gameport wheel that I got for free. And I broke it.

 

Get it. You won't regret it.

 

If you play games like Assetto Corsa, Euro Truck Simulator 2, etc. (and Drive of course ) you will love a G27. I've used one quite a few times and it's amazing. Also, I ordered one about two days ago, and it just arrived an hour ago.

 

If you get it, once you put the Bolide 390GTR on Hirochi Raceway you'll never turn back.

 

It is indeed a decent piece of hardware, but if you're not restricted by a tight budget you might consider going a step further and getting the Thrustmaster T500RS with a TH8RS shifter (plus an optional second shifter of that kind acting as an analogue handbrake if intend using one, for example for drifting). Having played both on a G25 and T500RS I can tell you it's well worth the price difference.

 

It must be said, the motors and drive system on the G27 are slightly wonky when it comes to ffb (loud, kinda clunky as you have stated, but it doesn't sound as bad) though the vibrations aren't too bad (I know when i hit the apex). Completely agree with the shifter, it's horrific on the navigation/button panel, the entire thing moves and the D-pad feels horribly cheap. The shifter itself is OK but lacking in customisation (tension, plates for sequential and H etc) unless you try some home made DIY i suppose. The pedals are fine, they are good for what they are; they are however floor mount only and suffer from non-realistic pressure feedback (They are all too weak, the clutch is really weak, the brake is almost good but not quite), keep in mind i have had my G27 for just over 2 years now and nothing has stopped working/broken, the tension in both pedals and shifter has weakened (i think) and the wheel doesn't do full 900 degree (it's now like... 890, though i can't remember if it was like that new).

 

Pretty sure it'd drive (lel) me insane if it was on one side aswell, though, i don't think i could go back to using my PS3 controller, just doesn't have that immersive feel (I'm talking about other racing games that include FFB). Also, i should add that i have and still am thoroughly enjoying my G27 even with some of its smaller faults. Also, in comparison to the lesser Driving force GT and the higher end Thrustmaster 500 (i think) it's worth the price without being too expensive for what it is, or being too cheap to the extent of where you start loosing features (or worsening them).

 

It all depends. I prefer an Xbox 360 controller. Why? Because it doesn't tie up any space, is very well supported by plug and play if you're on Windows.

G27 would be nice, but it's nowhere near practical for me.

The only problem with Xbox controllers is some games are completely undrivable. Examples being Asseto Corsa, Euro Truck Simulator 2, RaceRoom.

Ok, it depends. For BeamNG i usually use a 360 controller so i dont have to set anything up and can continue to use my keyboard. But for games like assetto corsa it makes all of the difference. I use a G25 and it is an amazing experience that i really enjoy. Now time to add 2 more 1080p screens, new GPU and butt kicker and i will be set
