Hi Everyone, thank you for waiting this long again! We prepared this challenge together with the BeamNG devs again and to celebrate the release of 0.27, this challenge will have the same theme: Offroad! The release of 0.27 saw interesting new vehicles, physics and a new map and the challenge for you is to highlight one or more of these new features by creating a new mod! We are not going to give you ideas this time, but look at the update blog and the changelog for inspiration! You will get 1 month to finish your mods, after which we will review them all and rank them. BeamNG will once again supply some really cool prizes so make sure to participate. We will take the experience of every modder into account to make sure that new mod makers have a chance of winning. Originality will be rewarded, we will be revising our scoring system to even out the experience and skill gaps a bit more. How to participate: Join our Discord server and become a member by introducing yourself https://discord.gg/3Fy86de Let us know that you’re interested in participating Upload the mod to the repository when it’s ready Make sure to share the link to the mod with the admins Don't incorporate your entry into other mods, this makes the reviewing process difficult Criteria: Each entry must be original Each entry must represent the spirit of the challenge Model should be as good as possible Jbeam should be as good as possible: Think about deformation, weight, console errors and behaviour Repo page should look nice and have a good description Entries should be creative and fun, this is the main objective of course! You cannot continue an older project for this challenge, it has to be a new mod. Forum + Discord rules: You need to have a BeamNG forums account to be able to submit your entry You need to be a member of Modding For Dummies Your entry has to be submitted to the repository before 22-1-2023 Your entry has to meet all the requirements of the repo Don’t copy others’ work No NSFW Rewards 1st place: -Exclusive BeamNG.drive T-shirt - 3 Steam codes -Official winner certificate -Modding For Dummies medal 2nd place: 2 Steam codes 3rd place: 1 Steam code You can work in pairs but only 1 reward will be sent to the winner(s). Good Luck! BeamNG.drive and the MFD admins
Note that, in the past, your mod has needed to be scratch made after the contest begins. But I can’t find any reason for it not to be a map mod.
I'd love to but I just don't have the time to dedicate to a high quality mod. I've been involved with modding before so know its not something you can learn overnight and I have zero experience modding beam. I'd love to have the time to learn 3d and jbeam but unfortunately it's not the case at the moment.
I will be watching this. Mods that i make cannot follow the criterias here as they cant even be put into the repository as they are their own application in order to prevent client side modifications. eg. Spoiler So everyone have fun o/
For those who want to (I have no modding skills myself), a mod that allows you to dirty the vehicle, when you drive in the mud or sand. There would be no modeling, but it would be an original challenge to have a dirt system. To be really cool, the tracks would have to be logical and random, different on the wheels and the randomly generated breeze part. It would be boring to have the same tracks all the time. Good Luck !
I've always wondered if tank treads somehow work in the game. If so how would I make them for my mod?
Someone could literally just make muddy liveries that update to muddier or cleaner skins as one drives through mud or water..... Not me, I do maps, but could easily be done.
They do but you are too late I am making that And honestly I advise against making them because it's lots of work, it's very tricky and at times very boring and repetetive
