Not really in the news... but I did part of a review for a sumo robot kit in Robot Magazine earlier this year.

My dad's company was featured in an episode of Food Factory.

My birth was in the local newspaper. Three New Year's babies that day and I was one of them.

My mother keeps a newspaper clipping with an article covering my great-grandfather's passing at age 89 in 2000. He was a mogul in the local and regional milk business for the better part of a century, so not only was he rich in his time, but he owned his own ice cream parlor. Over a decade after his passing, my sister happened upon a letter that my great-grandfather had received. It thanked him for his assistance in an unspecified task, and was signed with the name of a former FBI director.

I do wish I'd have known him better. He seems to have been an interesting man to talk with.

The letter could actually be something as simple as his total co-operation in an investigation that perhaps involved his business somehow. Pretty cool thing to have.

We don't have a huge amount left from my great grandfather. He passed less than a year ago at age 105. His 105th birthday was in the newspaper, got a picture of him with his 2 brothers who combined are 277 years old.

Yeah, that's been our running theory.

I'm sorry for your loss, but it's pretty cool that you got some time with him. I was 7 and none too bright when mine passed, so I barely recall him or anything he said or did. Still one of my bigger regrets.

I regret not getting to know my grandfather better. He was a very interesting man.
But there's so much stuff I wish I could ask him. Everything. Passwords to wifi networks and computers, how is tools are organized, if he has anything that could lift and support a 12,000 pound motorhome.
It would really help clear up the cloud of mystery that surrounds that thing if I could have him to consult. I can't even find any documentation of the model year, much less procedures to start the damn thing up.
