firstly, the VRV is really cool and good for the most part. the steering rack does a funny lil dance when your turn the wheels, but other than that its pretty solid. It has some weird deformation, but it's such an odd shape that honestly i can forgive it. the Legran though.. well, it needs help? I suppose thats the best way to put it cars do not remain slab-sided into the front fenders, they curve inwards starting at the front fenders so you dont end up with a monstrously wide front end (notice the fender arch bulges for the wheel wells). Next, the mirrors are HUGE. And pretty useless. and finally, these pillars curve in far, FAR too much. You'd knock your head on the pillar at every bump in the road. all reference photos were taken from a 1990 Chevrolet Lumina Euro, this video: Now, i know that this is all probably not going to get changed because its so "after-the-fact," but the Legran looks seriously goofy with how it's styled currently. It feels more like something that came out of Grand Theft Auto than a BeamNG mod. In terms of the overall quality though, it is good and the mod would be one of my favorites with these proportional issues addressed. Good luck Urbanmaid, it's really cool to see how far you've come along.
Yesterday I was able to test the MOD for a few hours and, above all, the effort and dedication towards the overall quality of the project was clear. The quality of the exterior and interior panels was extremely high. The dynamic behavior (driving) of the sedan/wagon/coupe was impeccable. However, there are some notable flaws in VRV that deserve review. The suspension, in general, is strange (perhaps the author already knows). At the same time that it is firm, it allows the front of the car to hit the ground violently, damaging the oil pan very easily. When braking hard, the rear seems to 'hit' the ground (or the exhaust). Even the behavior of the car when braking is extremely unstable. Suspension breaks when car skids sideways too easily. Anyway, I believe that the connection between the chassis and the suspension needs a complete overhaul to at least better protect the engine and prevent the car from hitting the ground when braking. Another detail that caught my attention was the performance of the car in any crash. The rear doors just fly off. The fronts, however, deform in a very unrealistic way. When equipped with a glass roof, the performance in a crash test is even worse than a car from the 60s: literally deadly! The MOD's general endurance issues are evident even in suspension tests. It is visible that all the larger parts (doors, trunk) vibrate when going through holes, even deforming. I say this because the behavior of the sedan/wagon versions, in these aspects, are excellent. Even though they are models from the early 90s, the difference in quality between them is stark. I imagine that the Chevy Lumina (and equivalents from the same era) were never an example of safety and construction quality, but they did not give the impression that they would fall apart when passing through an obstacle. Last but not least, it would be interesting for the author to work on trying to reduce the weight of the file as a whole (is 0.5GB a new record?) Finished by thanking the author for his dedication. I think the most critical parts of the MOD are very good. Note 8/10. Edit: The third brake light on the Wagon version does not fall out, even without the trunk lid.
Yo Urbanmaid, What happened to that Natri VD58 I sawed on your pixiv? --- Post updated --- I swear the Claria would beat the Legran2 and Legran LRV in a drag race.
Vertex is pretty heavy, and yet it's still 219MB. I don't know the car MODs with more than 500MB. At least I don't own one for now. As for maps, I think it's normal and expected that they are heavy.
Well when you consider that the M body is the Legran VRV, Sedan, Coupe, Wagon + in progress models for the 2nd gen VRV and other assets coming to the mod, it makes sense its about half a gigabyte
May i ask, why is this config named "Tomboy Offroad"? Is it just because, or is there some sort of reference I don't get?
I've got the same thing, and if you spawn this 2nd gen VRV, you just get a stripped minivan body with VRV 1st gen JBeam. Also, you can install an engine, but its not attached so you cant even start it up.
So uh.. I do love the LRV quite a bit. But the steering on it is a bit.. weird.. It's almost like it's using a steering box and linkage like a solid axle might. Rather than a rack and pinion setup and IFS vehicle should have.. Was this intentional? Is it only meshes that looked weird? Here is a screenshot of the of what looks like a steering linkage with articulation and no sway bar.
hey i tried to make a few off-road variants of both the cars (both the legrand and vrv), but the VRV rear supension seems to somehow always collapse in faster corners or larger jumps (giving the rear wheels a ton ofnegative camber, but still driving). The front does it too, but way less, to the point that it almost isn't noticeable when driving. is that a problem, or is it supposed to be like that and i just don't get it? (the legran doesn't do that, so it seemed a bit odd)
