I've noticed something

I don't think this was mentioned yet but here we go,

I've noticed something with all the cars in BNG. They are slowly turning to the right. I have seen some extreme turning with the Gavril Cargo Box Uplift model.
    My experience:

I'm driving this sick as truck in the empty gridmap when I see I am turning uncontrollably to the right. As I gained more speed this action seemed to be stronger and quicker, even though the only button I was pressing was accelerate.

Is this a known problem or is this implemented in game to simulate weight from a fat driver? (jokes, don't be offended big people)

But, seriously now, how can I help this swerving stuff?

    Please help:)

    Sincerely,

    Con

Several cars, notably the Civetta Bolide, had veering issues in previous versions of the game. As far as I'm aware, those effects have been minimized greatly. The slight turning to the right might be part of that. If you are using a controller, your analog stick might need recalibration.

I have noticed something of the sorts. For me the cars seem to drift very slightly to the left or right, not like the Bolide where theres a lot of power, but just like the cars are slightly asymetrical or something. Its so little, i may just be imagining things, or my controller may have issues.

Could be since theres no deadzone on the controller?

No, there's a deadzone. The problem is in real cars the steering assembly turns as forces are applied through the wheels, keeping the car straight. Beam's steering assembly keeps wherever the player wants it all the time. In this case 100% straight, which results in veering. This is something the force feedback system, when added, could be used to rectify. Even for non-wheel players. It could apply forces when no steering input is detected for KB and gamepad users.

As well as what pulley mentions. The cars are asymmetrical too. Engine reaction torque causes the suspension on one side to become ever so slightly loaded compared to the other side, this effects real world cars too. I've noticed there is no veering on the covet, it has a transverse engine so would load the suspension either forwards or rearwards. The other vehicles are longitudinal so will load left or right.

Yeah i thought the engine reaction force could have something to do with it. I think on a wheel it'd be very easy to compensate for, especially when FFB comes intgo play, but for a keyboard or controller, i think it should automatically corrected, since its too small to really manage properly.

If you're using a game pad, my Xbox 360 controller right stick likes to be slightly off center and register like I'm pushing it. It deals with the stick deadzone (if this is your issue). Anyways, just figured I'd offer my experience.

Next time you're driving your real car, let go of your steering wheel for a couple seconds on a straight bit of road, while accelerating. You'll start moving to one side. It just happens.

It should not do that at all unless driving on a cambered road. If you can get it on a flat and level surface and the car veers to one side (particularly a front or all drive one) then you should get it to a garage for a wheel alignment check.

Yeah, the car may veer to a side because the compenets can't handle the speed or they are damaged. :D

You're also ignoring wind, air resistance, friction, and all sorts of things. If your car drives perfectly straight, then something is out of alignment. Your weight alone will cause it to very slightly veer toward the driver's side over time, and if you had an infinite world like Flat Map, it would easily get to be as noticeable of a turn as you see in the game.

I'm not saying that it's intentionally like that, but it isn't unrealistic.

Torque steer is the only thing I see doing this.. Try removing this line in the engine jbeam. The D15 Offroad seems to torque steer the most.

    Code:
    //"torqueReactionNodes:":["e1l","e2l","e4r"]
