Wow, there went A LOT of effort into the overview about part throttle simulation which was just released! Looking forward to read everything as soon as I get home
Reading those kinds of posts is always fascinating. Better than "teaser Tuesdays" I know those probably take a fair bit of time, but if possible i wouldn't mind more of these deeper dives in to the physics.
"In the upcoming version of BeamNG several more tweaks were implemented in this model which should improve the consistency and reduce sudden changes in engine behavior."
i love this. teasing this with the scintilla makes me believe the next update is gonna be racing focused! tire thermals please
I doubt tire thermals are in the next update but I really hope we have some simulation improvements and not just new cars in this new update.
i wonder if they will rework other aspects like ignition or other engine things along with the throttle stuff?
BeamNG drive should add weather and halogen lights. Halogen aren’t that hard to make. Just use the default lights and put multiple frames together. Creates a cool effect
Weather would be a complete game changer tbh. I mean there is already an implementation of wet surfaces, such as the wet asphalt in the etk driving centre. Feels and also looks like real water. Just the splashes don’t look so realistic yet but they’re ok. Rain looks horrible tho. There is no wet dirt/ sand etc as far as I know but maybe an early implementation of weather with at least damp/ wet roads would be possible soon. Have the devs ever mentioned working on (dynamic) weather? Cause I don’t think so unfortunately
They first need to simulate aquaplaning though, because as of right now, race slick tires have more grip than road tires on wet
What about at the spawn point in Jungle Rock Island? I remember Car_Killer posted a screenshot of an edited Utah with the World Editor that showed wet roads.
