To be clear, this has been my favorite game since I started playing five years ago. But, I haven't played in a month and I don't think I even played it long during that session. Every update has reduced my FPS more and more so I've had to worsen the settings just to play it and I think that's making it less enjoyable. To make it playable now I have fewer traffic cars, lower resolution, no reflections...it's no longer at the level it needs to be to make this as engrossing as it used to be. Plus the updates haven't been as exciting as I'd like. The 1950s era has been ignored (Burnside hasn't had an update since I started playing), which is the era I like the most and the maps are sort of stale. Mountains, rain, deep snow, ice, long highways, deep mud, fordable, fast moving rivers, grass that doesn't clip through the cars---all things that would make this game thrilling again. Perhaps if I get a new computer some of the joy will come back, but $2K is a big investment to just keep one game playable.
I can attest to the 'new computer brings new life to the game'. It loses a lot of its charm on lower settings, and having to lower it due to the game's updating is even worse. To the computer thing, it doesn't have to be 2k. If you build it yourself (no qualifications are needed, and it's actually really easy) it could be around half or a third of that price. Sounding like a computer salesman here, and this isn't the purpose of this thread. Just see your other thread for more on this.
no other game gets so much better in so little time, if you dont enjoy it anymore is because you dont find new things to do in it
If you are not having fun anymore, then it´s time to find something else, not need to feel guilty or burnt out.
Everything there also happens to me too, even though I got a new computer just last year. I get 30 FPS max, usually around 22 or so
Not saying this is your issue because of only a year but My game was unplayable for a few weeks and I couldnt found out why. I took my computer apart to check to see about maybe a graphics card and my shit was so dirty and dusty. I completed cleaned it and beam has never ever been better, and thats with a graphic card that stopped giving me updates 2 years ago lol
I started to look behind things and started my personal map project. Now I’m more obsessed than ever.
Not gonna lie, I mostly play Beam to check new mods or tinker with my own ones. And also during boring online meetings where I need to kill time otherwise I aaaaah!
Maybe 3000 hours in 5 years is too much for almost any game. I bought BeamNG in 2012 and now have 1100 hours played. I've spent 90% of played hours on my custom map, which I started making around 2015. The game's updates are so good that I'm not getting bored for a long time.
