As the title says, I think it would be great if we could use the salt flats on the western end of the map. Yes, this map does have the biggest straight section in the game, but for various purposes/challenges it would be nice if there was a connecting road to the salt flats area, maybe some props there indicating that there is a drag racing event that is being held. Maybe in the future we could also see some saltflat dragsters?

You can use the salt lake, 1 fence is open next to it.

Yes, I just noticed that, but I mean something that is a bit more detailed, with actual terrain physics. I don't think it would be that much of an optimization nightmare.

The salt flats are a "bonus" area :) .

If we can improve our map tech, then such improvements might be done here.

as some have mentioned, it would be cool to place a small mobile pit setup out there, just to make it feel a bit less like you're driving into oblivion.

Few distance marker flags to mark a 'course' would help too.

Couldn't we just use world editor to change the terrain and add dirt paths and roads?

I have written up a text describing what I think would be a real game changer in terms of BeamNG's map tech. It's in my Discord server's forums under "BeamNG.drive: The Ultimate Driving Simulator" and I won't go too much in-depth of it here but it does involve tiled map loading. If you're interested, feel free to join and check it out, I don't want to clutter this thread too much. :)

i dont wanna clutter the thread with this as well. but i ABSOLUTELY 100% agree we need map tiling.
it would drastically change the quality and size of the maps available.
it would be a massive undertaking, but i feel like it would be 100% worth it if beamng did implement map tile loading.
Map tiling would be a MAJOR game changer for beamng and its something i can only dream of.
