As per the title, does anyone know what is the fastest CPU for Beam NG for high frame rates? There is lots of info in the banana bench thread regarding running physics calculations, but what about for high frame rates in a triple screen environment?

My 5900X + 3080 gives ~120fps but only 80%-90% GPU utilisation on WCUSA with 5760x1080 with no traffic, but as soon as I spawn 6 cars, it drops to <80fps and 60% or lower GPU utilisation.

Does anyone know if a 5800X3D or perhaps a 12900K would improve this? I think it is a draw call limitation.

Beam NG is the only game that I feel I need a better CPU for. The Vulkan renderer improves the GPU usage and frame rate but is very unstable.

5900x ? this cpu is better than 5800x3d i think? You have really good setup for 1440p resolution. Unless you play on 4k, then 120fps is great! I get 120fps on 1440p with ryzen 3600 + 3070.

Edit: check youtube tutorials for graphics quality. I have all on max except detail refresh rate or something like that. set on 1-2

Open the perforamnce graph by pressing shift+ctrl+f, see what component is blinking in the top of the windows that pops up, that's the bottleneck.

Thanks for the info. I did that, nothing is blinking but the CPU is shown in white. When I add traffic the CPU blinks. However I already knew the CPU was the limiting factor, I am trying to work out which CPU would be best to get rid of that limitation.

Thanks, it's a triple screen setup though which is a lot more intensive on the CPU. Triple screen Assetto Corsa Competizione and iRacing seem like they gain a lot from the 5800X3D so I was wondering if Beam NG did too.

Good, it's just to make sure it's not the ram or something like that.

Hello, how are you getting now? I have a similar setup, 5900x and RTX4070 with 5760x1080 triple screen, the game runs in High graphic settings. when turn on both "AI Traffic" and "Multi-Monitor Render", my fps can't even keep up to 60.
I don't see fps improve if I change resolution to 4800x900 or 4098x768. Both GPU and CPU are not fully utilized...

The stability isn't always great but you could try out the Vulkan renderer, it seems to do a better job of maintaining high FPS with traffic enabled. I have traffic amount set to auto and maintain ~100FPS with my OC'd 8700K @ 1440p Ultra Graphics.

I think BeamNG is ultimately limited by the Lua calls in-between the physics steps, runs at 2khz. Then there's whatever it calls at fixed steps, 100hz. Then whatever it calls between each frame running at the FPS rate.

If you're getting over 100 FPS, enjoy it. I have a 11700k and a 3090, and at 4k I'm not even getting that, unless I run in safe mode.

Internally I don't think it makes much difference, because the game loop is not limited by FPS. From what I understand it always runs at 2khz unless your computer just can't do it.
