Hey, I've downloaded a couple of mods from here and some other places and only three of them have loaded, two from here and one from somewhere else. I've put all the zips in the mod folder and I can see them in the mod list, but I can't see them in the vehicle list. Any help would be very much appreciated. Could it be that the mods are out of date?
We can't help until you provide which mods are these. They could be out of date, or they could just be trojans if you downloaded them from some less moderated websites.
https://www.worldofmods.com/beamng/cars/ I got the mods from this website. Not going to list them all as it was a fair few but all ranged from being published 2020-2023. when looking into the zip it says its an application which im not sure about.
I have a feeling I know it's a problem is. I'm assuming that you're not using the in game repository tool to install the mods, that you're doing it manually? If that's the case, use the in-game repository, it's likely you are installing them incorrectly. If you are unable to use the in-game repository tool, then likely you're using a bootleg copy. If you are, it's a cheap game. It's worth the couple bucks. Support the devs. Don't assume I'm jumping the gun. I don't think that is likely but in the rare possibility that's my thoughts on the matter. If you're using the repository and it's still not working, let me know and we will figure this out.
If it says it's an application, DELETE IT IMMIDIATELY, it means you downloaded not the mod but something else, either a trojan or some shady installer. Always make sure that you are downloading a real mod. And better avoid that website, it has a bad reputation anyway.
exe installers shouldn't be placed in the mods directory, and i wouldn't recommend them at all if there's something for some reason you really want, still don't recommend, there should be an option to download the zip file, however i think these tend to be packed incorrectly. i've never had a problem with zip installs personally, but again do so at your risk. the proper packing would be ---------.zip/vehicles/--------- and these tend to be packed as ---------.zip/copy to game folder/vehicles/--------- this means you would have to extract the given zip, and toss the vehicles folder inside into it's own zip, then toss it into your mods folder.
BeamNG mods have no executable, if you download an exe file or a zip contains exe file(s) DELETE IMMEDIATELY, it's likely a virus disguised as a mod
