A factory 4x4 probably won't come, mainly because the 1980's were just the beginning of 4 wheel drive tech and the car ends production in 1981. Aftermarket AWD will 99% come though.

I mean, you could get 4WD pickups in the ‘30s here in the US, so…

This is a joke, it doesn’t need 4WD (it would be fun, though), but the fact is correct.

The only road-going 4WD model at the time was the Jensen FF. Even Subaru didn´t start 4WD until 1972.

The 1893 Diplock Steam Locomotive was the first 4WD vehicle.
Also, many trucks of the time had 4WD as an extra-cost option.

I was thinking more in the vein of Range Rover(1970) Ford Bronco(1966) and Jeep Wagoneer(1962).
Off-road cars that got civilized, but unlike those two that were for rich people, a small car with allroad ability would find its place in the market.
Aria is an Italian vehicle, there are a lot of mountain roads in Italy plus farmers would appreciate a car that can get in places only accessible by a tractor.
And it is not like Autobello is in lore is stranger to 4x4 vehicles, they make the Stambecco.

As a personal note, driving road going cars in mud is something I remember well, a ZAZ 966, Fiat 126p, and a Polonez. They all had to do it, they were not good at it.

I could see a company taking the base or mid range model of these cars and adding a 4wd system slightly lifted suspension and some better off road tires and it being popular with farmers and other people that could use a 4wd vehicle

these small cars not the type for 4wd tho. As far as it was back then, fwd was best in the snow, and aside from some japanese curiosities, that was that in the seventies.

the daihatsu fourtrak in the underground parking of the apartment building would object to that.

OT: i think with good tires it will be an ok soft-roader. There was not really that much hardware, and even the lambo-built 127 rustica it is based on has no 4wd, so it wasnt a necessity.

and the reason why i keep talking about america export ver, is only because the pickle is based on the beetle which sold in millions in the USA. It would make sense that Autobello would want to keep what little market share they have after fierce japanese competition

    Hi guys!
Just a small update: mod's not dead yet. I've just been busy with irl stuff for the past two weeks, but I managed to make some engine models in the spare time I had:
    DesktopScreenshot20230514-21354218.png
These are the 1.3L OHC and 1.5L DOHC motors. 1.0L's model is not done yet, so that's my next target.
I'm not sure if I will have too much free time in the following weeks, so expect a progress update some time in the future. Alright, that's all!

Now this is awesome! Love a little compact, especially a little European one. The 127 is one of my favs. Amazing progress, jbeam looks excellent, and model looks high quality. 10/10 so far. God I wish I knew how to mod!!!!!!

You going to do a 900cc version like the 127 too?

It's similar to the Pigeon engine, only the difference is that it's 4 cylinders and doesn't rust

By the way is this rear engine or front engine?

definetely a contender for featured resource, as it's properly lore friendly and has so much detail by the looks of things
