hey, if you guys are aiming at realism with beam ng, its not very realistic when the car drives by its self, and when your in first person there are no hands on the wheel, it would be a cool idea to have a person in the driver seat, the problem i'm seeing tho is "clipping" for example: you do a flip and land on your roof, then you get flipped back on your wheels, your roof has gone flat and your person is sticking out the top like a idiot XD, but it would also look weird if the car was 80% destroyed, if the person in the car could also be "flexed" it would be quite odd how he would look. and to some, a bit shocking, but the point i'm trying to say is that you put a person in the car with hands on the wheel in first person, that would look really cool.
There is no way that we can think of (or have the resources for) to have an authentic person driving the car, hands on the wheel, doing the hand-over-hand motion for large steering movements, and also operating shifters, parking brake, turn signal, pedals, etc. while reacting to physics AND fitting the differing steering wheel diameters, thicknesses, positions, and angles, as well as the differing positions and angles of the seats and pedals varying from car to car.
I don't think it would really go with the game anyway, I prefer having no driver. From what I remember, NFS V Rally 2 did this really well. It has been years since I have played, but I remember the driver having hands on the steering wheel realistically and also changing the gears.
Yeah I personally don't like the idea... Look at burnout the game for example they don't have a driver and it's still AWESOME!!!
It's been talked about a lot. Just search "crash dummies" or "ragdoll" and some threads should come up.
Lexus??? u guys should make a lexus with the wood and leather and passenger seats and guys u should make beamng so u can have multiplayer/passengers
To be fair, I think that was mostly done to keep an E rating. If there were people involved in the crashes, it would have to be bumped up to T for sure.
Re: Lexus??? You posted that on January 25th, nine months ago. And now you bumped it. Are you really that stupid that you can't even read the date on the bloody post?
Nothing in this game is animated. It can't be done. Like Gabster said, the hands on the person aren't possible to move to the shifters, parking brake, etc.
Except this is a thread. It proves the idea is possible but obviously at the time of these posts they did not know how to do it. This is still only for one vehicle and is very buggy but it shows it can be done in this engine.
With rigged animation like other games, as well as a setting for wheel diameter and hands height, it could be possible. But rigging up a skeleton and getting your pivots etc set up properly is a pain, that's even before animating.
