This car is really awesome! It feels like the wheels ping off a bit too easily though, the suspension doesn't even really have a chance to bend in an impact
This has to be one of the very few cars able to take Eau Rouge at 260km/h in BeamNG Also the car is much easier to drive with wider wheels imo
And it also pops up this message if you spawn the car without having the required mod installed. Wings do bend IRL, but that does look like a bit much. I'll add that to the TODO list. Are you having this issue with a specific variant and/or specific wheels? I mostly adjusted the suspension with the 2000 variants, and I feel like it's mostly alright with those wheels, although it heavily depends on exactly how you crash.
Looking into the car, the engine is confined within the tube frame and is not a stressed member of the chassis. Therefore splitting apart on an accident would not be realistic, except for maybe the rear suspension splitting off. This is not possible in-game, but would be rather realistic. Having driven the car extensively, I am very impressed with it! I had the pleasure of driving a formula ford car for a few laps a few years ago, and the actual behaviour of the car feels very similar. A very nicely made mod! I am very happy that it allows you to make modifications to bring it up to speeds it absolutely shouldn't be... --- Post updated --- Adding this since this happened for the first time for me. It turns out the engine can break off, and the suspension is mounted to the engine. The problem is that the suspension mounts just float in nothing. The jbeam could be improved in this regard IMO. Aero is very nicely modeled!
I'm playing around with this, and I don't know if it's just conflicting with some of my other mods, or it's just not quite compatible with 0.29, but the wheel, Dash screen and the seat are not visible. I checked the parts selector, and it says the parts are installed, but they're just not in the actual car.
Not to sure if it's supposed to turn into a fidget spinner when you crash, but oh boy i got a good laugh out of it It went on for like 3 minutes, i think it has something to do with the jbeam lol
add beams to the suspension so they bend like an indycar when you crash and make them 2 beams per suspension so it ban break in half when you crash too hard
Yeah, I think I need to have the message saying you're missing required mods to just stay on the screen forever since people are clearly not seeing it. But why? Formula Ford/Continental do not have a halo IRL. You're also an other example of needing to make the message about dependencies just stay on screen forever... Might be some stability issues, I'll check it out. Not possible without making the suspension twice as heavy as it currently is, and possibly messing up the handling.
This car likes to jump in the air on head on impacts 50 mph impact I'd assume the cars didnt do this irl lol
I created an account on this forum just to say, just wow. This is the best looking, driving, and feeling open-wheeler in BeamNG. Please for the love of everybody, everywhere, make more Formula inspired cars. Different series with the NG'ified flavor would be absolutely insane to see. F3, F2, F1, Formula E, Super Formula are all cars that could definitely work. Could have them based off of BeamNG's brands.. man. Civetta powered, Ibishu powered, ETK powered, and stuff like that. Hirochi if we're going the Honda route.
Something I realized while looking at the jbeam is that this is not pushrod suspension and is instead a simple double wishbone on the front and rear. The springs are not the ones in the flexbody, but instead are beams that connect to a node in the center above the front end. I am not sure how much this affects the handling and suspension articulation, but it is an odd choice considering what is supposed to be simulated.
That's done to avoid having to have the suspension weigh a lot. Suspension movement is not affected by this.
