+1 on most of this. I feel like the swb and lwb is a much needed addition, considering a good majority of these were swb base or cargo models irl. but most importantly, the base model parts. It feels strange having a stripped down cargo van that still has PW, PDL, P mirrors, etc. A base cluster sans tachometer would also be a simple but welcome addition.

The 3rd generation 3.3L in real life made peak power at 4800rpm and the 3.8L made peak power at 4300rpm. The 4th gen Caravan, both engines made peak power @ 5000rpm. I think that's pretty accurately represented with the late ECU.

I noticed that to. Engine size/output, transmission ratios, axle ratios and most of (not all) the design, is 100% a Chrysler NS/RS van.

It seems to be the LeGran/Wendover are based on Buick 3.3/3.8s. The Lansdale seems to be based on Chrysler EG-Series 3.3/3.8. Kind of funny in a way.

I started digging in the car, and realized that many parts have a transparent texture inside =(, I won’t even list, everything is visible when you turn off the visibility of parts in the “tuning” section

That is done intentionally to reduce file size slightly I think

do you like that?) an inadequate measure for a game in which cars are destroyed, perhaps for nfs this would be suitable)

It's not a very big deal if these parts are normally not visible

the inner side of the tires is usually not visible either) but it is not transparent, so the answer is not counted)

Because tires are easy to pop and you can see the inside then. Other parts are not as easy to break or deform in a crash in a way that the inside will be visible. And besides, the tires are not modelled inside, but simply use a double sided material. Using one on a car would be computionally expensive due to the more complex geometry, and the inner side could have shading and reflection issues.

I don’t approve of this approach in terms of details, on old car models this was not noticed in large numbers, and how did we just live without these innovative ones)

This is done for optimization reasons. If the engine's insides had modelled pistons or if the framerails were visible on both sides it would cost a lot more computational power. None of what you described affects gameplay. The pictures you provided show clearly that those parts are not meant to be seen in normal use. That's the case with every single car and mod.

Old car models were less detailed so they didn't need drastic measures of model optimization. The newer models can be pretty laggy for some people so they definitely need some sacrifises.

Well, you have already completely bent with the pistons) do not need to go from extreme to extreme

Shouldn’t the cargo version be able to carry a load, I can’t find a config for this

But other parts of the game get more laggy too, not just vehicles. Optimization is necessary wherever possible.

By the way some feedback for you: Since 0.29 Released I have not used a single mod and I have enjoyed it nonetheless, Brilliant work BeamNG team. In my opinion this is the best release yet, Can't wait for more! :)

I agree, but you need to know what can be optimized and what cannot, now it depends more and more on the central processor than on the video card, let's see what the "vulkan" will give us, I am categorically against cars that look good only in good condition, they should also look high quality and when broken

And the best option - to make all the models on the conscience, and give people with a weak PC to put the appropriate settings) cars without textures and then and so on)

Similar to how it is done with simplified traffic

Much agreed on all of this. Maybe a long wheelbase version could be called the Grand Lansdale. Also a little off topic from the lansdale but talking about hand crank windows, I also think the base versions of the H- series, late facelift D-series and Roamer should have hand crank windows as well, for the same reasons. IRL equivalent base and fleet models have manual windows. Maybe the 96 pessima could have have hand cranks in its base models also.

I also forgot to mention, I don’t think the base models had air conditioning standard, only as an option. And a rusted out beater could be called the “Great Lakes Special”

Also some silly conversion like a homemade pickup truck, RV conversion or full monster truck conversion
