Yes, that's exactly what I meant, sad news....

So, after the release of "Vulkan" we will have to wait for official support for "real HDR", can we add this item to "prioritized" or "needs attention"? =)

And if I understand correctly, HDR is planned from 2019, if this article is to be believed: https://beamng.com/game/news/blog/color-space-lighting-and-hdr-rendering/.

HDR (10 bit screen support) and HDR rendering is a completely different thing :)

Can’t you just exit hdr display mode in your windows settings?

And doesn’t windows have a setting to increase the brightness of non HDR content so it looks ok in hdr mode even outside of auto HDR? Or does your beamNG not look broken, but just not as good?

Do you advise me to switch the "HDR-SDR" mode in Windows every time I enter the game? Maybe I need to adjust the brightness on my monitor every time I enter the game to enjoy the game without eye pain)? HDR has been a standard in gaming for a long time!

Thanks for the advice, I won't use it of course).

Yes :) Super easy to do, one click. Leave the settings window open in the background even.
No :) Vast majority of non-AAA games don't ship with full HDR support, much less early access ones.

You are a fierce opponent of progress, if you don't have HDR, it doesn't mean everyone should suffer) and by the way, to disable auto HDR and apply the settings, I have to reboot my computer =C

You can just toggle hdr (if xbox game bar is installed) using Win + Alt + B

no one here opposes HDR, they are just saying that it's not as common to have full support of it as you think.

There's something to it, but still hoping for official HDR support in the future

I have a Sony A80J, which is why I'm so confused about having an issue with Beam, I enjoy it plenty on the TV. For some reason I don't have to reboot my PC when I toggle HDR though.

When I'm running Vulkan safe mode I get much worse performance than normal, I'm using an RTX 2060 and a I7 10700, is the performance hit normal?

Safe mode Vulkan mode uses a lot of debugging features so even single-digit fps is rather normal here at times.

Pretty much the same. GTX 1650 Ti. Vulkan is currently, to my surprise, far inferior to DirectX in my case. That is, 15-30FPS on Vulkan, contrary to 50 - 60 FPS on DirectX.

Was Vulkan started in safe mode? If yes, it is normal. Try not running vulkan in safe mode
Or the reason is lack of memory, since vulkan uses more than dx11

Running in proton with the `-gfx vk` flag I get a hard crash after some time playing which kills my whole window manager and the following in dmesg. This does not happen with other vulkan native games that I have tested although that isn't a very exhaustive list I'll admit.

So, I've been attempting to use Vulkan for a while.
I'm on an AMD card and get easily 50% more FPS compared to DX and I notice a massive difference when having more vehicles or traffic enabled with nearly 100-150% more FPS.
However, for some reason every time I use Vulkan I crash in the middle of gameplay at a random point. Is this something that's known and should I send over my logs?
I prefer Vulkan on Beam especially over DX due to the FPS increase to any help would be appreciated :)

I think it's most likely related to VRAM usage. Maybe try to monitor that. If it's unrelated please let me know there.
