Man. Thanks for the deep level of detail in everything you do! (I think it would be funny to add an Easter egg door noise that incredible rarity, like the sleigh bells in East Coast USA.)
All I can say is amazing details for a amazing game from a amazing dev dev that makes my passion of cars come to life and why beam is mostly the only video game I play with cms 2021 and the crew 2 and teardown every now and then. I'll admit am a beaming fan boy. And that don't bother me. Keep doing the amazing work you and the forms admins do. I love the classic good sound. Classic metal sound. I love how new cars sound tinny as much as I adore the etk and Bastion.
It's funny) I was just testing doors a week ago and was surprised at how different opening and closing doors sound depending on the amount of force applied, and here's an article on the subject, more of these, we love it
I see a lot of time "FMOD" mentioned no matter which game i read about. But i never really understood what it actually is. Is this some sort of plugin to playback specific sound formats in specific programs, like a codec you install in let's say VLC to playback a certain format?
Awesome, thanks for sharing. I love the occasional behind the scenes or how it's made blogs. I already have a lot of respect for the dev team but these types of posts make me appreciate all the work that goes into BeamNG even more.
FMOD is our audio middleware and essentially a software to connect sounds with the game engine. Most games use either FMOD or Wwise as audio middleware these days, that´s why you see these names a lot.
The asset creation and multi sound assignment is pretty much similar as when I wrote software percussion instruments for musicians that play audio samples. I think, I understood, what was the challange to create the latch audio system. Though I had to use VST as the middleware or subsystem cause FMOD was simply too slow. Ultra exact timing was essential. Thanks a lot for the detailed discription the devs wrote. Very intresting!
this is insane i had no idea that it was this hard, just curious, more or less a door/latch is the windshield of the hopper, does it have sound or can it be open? i saw it had hinges but i dont know how to open it
