So, I wanted to upload an updated version of my map East Coast USA with lights! but it doesn't work because "The uploaded file is too large.". (1,17GB) I don't know what the size-limit is nor how to shrink it down. Yes, I've packed the map into a Zip folder and it works if I put it into my mod folder directly. Now all I want to do is upload it. I've allready asked the support and was basically told to ask someone else. So here I am, asking someone else... Any help is appriciated. Kind regards, DerPedda
Apparently it’s about 480 MB (oddly specific), Los Injurus and a few others got special permissions. --- Post updated --- At least it was a year ago, as seen in some thread from 2022
Only trying to help, but this tool can automatically remove un-used assets from the map automatically, shrinking its size, assuming the un-needed assets arent already deleted. https://www.beamng.com/threads/beamng-tool-for-map-creators-big-update.89058/
Thanks! I am gonna try it asap. --- Post updated --- I tried this tool out and it does work without any issues but the mod is with 980MB still to large. XD I guess, I just won't be using the Repo anymore. + I allready made a Thread where you can download the map.
Theres only one more thing I can think of, and that is to set a higher compression level. Only thing is that the more compression, the longer it takes to compress and decompress the files, which may make the map load slower. I am not sure how BeamNG supports different zip compression levels though
I tried this tool out and it does work without any issues but the mod is with 980MB still to large. XD I guess, I just won't be using the Repo anymore. Well, I would need to compress the map to about 480MB since this is the size limit as far as I know. Compressing the map from its 980MB down to to 480MB would be almost impossible without having the map load a for an eternity... It's just sad that even the support doesn't have an answer for this issue. And people are wondering why more and more modders use other Websites to upload there mods.
