Multiplayer?

    Just too bad the majority of computers nowadays will most likely bottleneck completely if multiplayer comes to beamng.
    You better have one of those intel xeon cpu's if you gonna host a server most likely.

    Unless you are only going to play 2 or maybe 3 on the same map i guess it would be fine (but that wouldn't be much of a race/derby).

    bottlenecks can be avoided by only sending things like location, rotation ect. if a collision happens send that event and velocity.
    the client can then run an approximation of the collision and apply damage to their local versions of the cars.
    since both client and server will run the same information through the physics engine, it should produce the same results.

    i believe Jon was talking about pc bottlenecks, not network bottlenecks (as in people not having a cpu powerful enough to simulate whatever amount of vehicles)

    Due to latency and varied computer specs it likely won't stay in sync. My laptop in an older update only manages 1700Hz physics updates when game is supposed to run at 2000Hz. If I have 50ms ping, that's actually 100 game physics steps in which to desynchronise data on my end and other players end. At some point you'll need a full skeleton update.

    Prediction is never 100% either.

    i believe dummiesman (a user on this forum) has actually tried to get it working, he got connect and vehicles to show up, however it lost sync almost instantly (would sync the vehicles spawning then lost sync)

    i believe one problem is the fact that you can't rotate j-beams in the map editor yet, only the model (which causes some problems)

    plus the t3d MP system is made to work with it's physics, and not the beamng physics system

    the devs have said that multiplayer is planned though (obviously it's going to be quite a while though)

    I'm not sure, but i think it definitely is planned. there is now a messages tab in the game, and when checking my ports i now have a Beamng port. i think it will happen soon

    Yes, I'm fairly certain this is the count down to the race update. There have been videos all over the forum about racing and checkpoints, plus the steam early access release is coming by the end of the month, most likely with this update.

    However, I don't think multiplayer is coming any time soon. If ever.

    All that is said is that the countdown is until steam. And wasn't the update with the Roamer and the 200BX with Hirochi Raceway the race update?

    Multiplayer = Multi "more than one" + player

    Or, according to wikipedia : "A multiplayer video game is a video game in which more than one person can play in the same game environment at the same time."

    The new scenarios meet those requirements, so yeah, BeamNG has multiplayer. :p

    I define Multiplayer as a game with more than one player sure, but for me it is not on the same computer. It´s over the internet with servers and stuff. LAN gameplay is even more different

    And I define "blue" as being a two-dimensional geometric shape consisting of all the points that are a certain distance d from a given point. Just because for you it "doesn't count" unless it's online doesn't make it not so.

    Ask your PC firstly if it can run MP :)
    Most of you dont have a highend PC to run 6 small cars stable with 60 fps.
    Even my PC is to weak for now.

    there is already multiplayer in a sercnario (bad grammer yea dont mention it orther i wil darude sandstorm your rear)
