Hey so uh, hate to interrupt your friendly conversation, but looks to me like you forgot to use autosmooth. What is Autosmooth? Well basically it makes it so only edges up to a certain angle are rendered smooth. To enable it, select every mesh every time you import the DAE, then in the different sections in the bottom right go to the one with 3 squares connected by lines (colored Turquoise-ish), and then go to normals-> enable autosmooth, then right click, and press copy to selected. Then choose any angle between 45 to 60 degrees and again right click and press Copy to Selected. Hope this helps!
