Hello all i have no experience with the editor, (just moving/deleting stuff around and whatnot but that's it) I managed to add a road to an existing map, my problem is the darn bushes, i was able to remove some of them with the forest tool (circled in green) but the others from what i've been reading i believe are a ground cover? (circled in red) i have a slight idea of how this works, like photoshop layers? but correct me if i'm wrong.. How can i make the road be on top of the bushes? i've been trying but at this point i don't know what else to do anymore. Any help will be greatly appreciated TIA
Go to terrain tools, terrain painter. Select one of the dirt terrains and paint that on the road. Beamng maps have 1 main terrain mesh, this is painted, in squares depending on the size and resolution of the map, with textures. This gives the look, the physics and the groundcover (if applied to that terrain paint). Because this would mean very blocky/pixelated road edges if used alone to create roads, you can then also apply a road decal above this. This is purely cosmetic, but allows you to have defined edges and more detail for tire tracks, etc. You can have any terrain type underneath and that will always dictate the physics and the groundcover. Paint some different dirt terrains over the top, well underneath really but you know what I mean, (dirt dusty, dirt loose, etc.) and work out which one you want for your road.
Thx for your response.. That's the first thing i tried, trying to paint over it does nothing no matter what material i choose.. I already added 3 decal roads "dirt_variation", "dirt_road" and "dirt_tiretracks"
Your slope mask min/max is set to 89.9/90. It will only paint on terrain with gradients between 89.9 and 90. Drop it to 0/90 and you'll be grand.
BeamNG World Editor... It's almost always simple, while at the same time being really bloody complicated or hard to find. Good luck!
thank you so much this has help me get rid of those damn bushes. I looked in the files and saw file named grass and I thought that I had to edit that file to fix it but it turned out to be so easy thank you again.
