Ok, first of all, the Protycon Centauri is free. So is the Japanese Limo made by Nekkit. I have both of those, never paid. Second of all, I read your post like 15 times. Also, once again, I haven't bought any mods because they all use third-party sites. You're talking about the shady sites but I don't think you realize that the shady sites are all the sites that these mod makers link back to. It's always like koffee or Patreon or Paypal or OnlyFans or they ask for a bank transfer. BeamNG.com is the only place I visit for forums and mods. I don't go anywhere else. The shady sites are all the third-party sites that are linked by these mod makers, and it's always some random site I've never heard of. You seem to think I just stumble around the internet sending money to anyone who says they have a paid mod. I'm not doing that. I'm actually looking for someone who's selling a mod, through BeamNG. Not through some random ass website nobody has ever heard of. Which is why I haven't been scammed yet. Once again, you're not reading what I'm saying. You're skimming the lines and inserting whatever you wanna believe. --- Post updated --- I'd be willing to pay for a mod that took years to make. That's fair and reasonable. But if you're making mods that take 2 weeks to make and you're just throwing a model from assetto corsa onto a car that already exists in the game and you pretend it's worth $50 a month I'm not interested.
Use common sense then Also, does that mean that you would buy the golden vertex addon? What type of beam mods are you looking for exactly? S*x mods? (I don’t want to get in trouble with moderators for saying that)
What's the golden vertex? Gavril Vertex? I've used that one, it's good. And I'm not looking for anything specific, I just occasionally browse the forums and see what people are doin. But sometimes I stumble across a mod and think "oh that looks kinda interesting" and then I find out I have to pay some guy on a random site to get access to it. Most of the time I've never heard of these sites so I have no idea if they're reliable or not. Also no I'm not looking for ya know mods lol I'm just making a point that I literally usually have never heard of these sites and they link to them and ask for my debit card information. I'm not tryna get scammed. What does this mean? I said earlier that I can't verify the credibility of some of these mod makers through a screen. And there's no purchase protection or anything guaranteed so just saying "use common sense" doesn't necessarily help me. I could use common sense all day and until I can actually verify the quality of the mods through a trial version or videos online there's really no way of knowing if a mod is good or not. I mean, just look at the mods on Modland. They all use Forza and Assetto meshes so they actually look good, but if you install any of them (don't) they're all just mesh-slaps thrown together by some guy living in Russia. So who's to say that won't happen on the BeamNG forums? And why doesn't BeamNG personally verify each of the mod makers? I mean it's just a clusterf*ck right now. There's no way of knowing what you're actually gonna receive after spending money, and there's no way of knowing if all the money in your bank account is gonna be sent to some random dude in Albania. I thank you for trying to help me, but I plan on waiting until Beam starts verifying mod makers to actually start buying mods. Because I've got no problems buying mods if they're actually quality.
I don't think I've seen a good quality mod (I.E. one by LucasBE, LJ, etc.) that's been over 5 dollars, so I really don't agree with the whole "paying half the price of the game" thing. Also no it's really not black and white? --- Post updated --- I really think what people don't understand when the paid mod issue comes up is that people aren't defending the 20$ a month patreon Lamborghini meshslaps, they're defending the $5 good quality scratch made cars made by credible authors that get the exact same treatment. also who's putting beam mods on onlyfans lel
It's black and white, I mean it really is. And also, if the mods really were $5, and a one-time payment, I really couldn't give a crap if I tried. But they aren't, so I am going to complain. $5 a month on Patreon is the lowest I've seen so far. And anything set as a subscription is an automatic no for me because I'm not going to subscribe to some guy's Patreon and pay him $60 a year for a mod that's really only worth like $5 as a one-time payment. If it's $60 per year, that's like 3 times the game's value, so that is indeed kinda of ridiculous and unnecessary. Regardless, I won't be buying any. But I still have used a few that I know are quality. Like the Vertex and the Japanese one everyone talks about. Those are the only two I'd willingly spend money on. --- Post updated --- Maybe I'll start doing that.

They only ones I've seen like that are those like the Hirochi Rush and the Ibishu Serenity that either are released for free later, or are going to be paid but with free access to those who paid for early access. Also please elaborate how it's so "black and white" as you claim.
then don't buy paid mods then lol. if paying for your video game mods is causing you to suffer financially, then I think you have other problems to worry about rather than ranting on this online internet forum
Looking at it after a few days since my last reply, @Ovahlls is just feeds on this drama here, and it seems their arguments are rather exaggerated on purpose (inb4 I haven't read their messages properly). I'd suggest you guys to let it go too, lol.
While it isn't the coolest thing going about, posting someone else's hard work for people to grab for free, I am also not totally against it either like I used to be. I'm all for paying for a mod from creators, I know are great and has a proven record, for instance kenemation, Lucas, And so on, but there are also mods that are paid that aren't even worth the money they're requiring. In order to prevent offending them (if in case they're reading) or throwing them under the bus, I wont say who they are because they did put some effort into creating something I dont even have the basic understanding of. That being said it still a bummer when you have paid for a mod that isnt at all ready to be released for a fee and the never using it. Therefore if there is a creator who has posted a paid mod that got leaked, I will "steal" the leaked mod to check if their products are worth a shot of me pulling out my wallet with their next release.
please allow me to keep my opinion without any pushback. I gave my view on this post, not a post about what creator you think is or isnt good. as it stands they are good enough for me to make a purchase when they come out with something I want.
The users of this forum disregard opinion good sir, you make a sizeable error with any effort spent attempting to reason with it. Besides, any amount of currency spent on add-ons for this title is objectively poor value as outlined many times within this very thread. Authors of add-ons seek to suck the wallets of the community dry, it is no coincidence those affiliated with them populate this thread to propagate supportive opinions when met with a shred of criticality. In due time their alternative accounts that lay dormant with low post counts will quote this very post to present a contrary opinion accompanied along with thinly veiled insults. I sincerely do hope they enjoy the proceeds deposited upon their bank account by authors of add-ons we discuss herein.
No, no error here. I just want to make it clear that I do not want to have a debate off topic nor at all in general. I see that happen way too often on these kinds of threads, no matter what site it is. guess I should have clarified that. whoops
Those affiliated accounts, are they in the room with us right now? Comments like those are the main reason why the paid mod drama is still going on, lol.
I know this is an old post, but I do have a question. What if they're kids that wanna get mods but can't buy them since they don't have a credit card? it's not really fair for them
Well the problem is it then would not be fair for the person who put lots of effort into the mods. The kids could always get the demo version if they really wanted it Besides, kids shouldn’t be meddling in mod leak discords or 3rd party sites…
