Regarding the comments about changing maps and setting up Career Mode in other maps: We are focusing on WCUSA for now as it allows us to keep the experience more manageable as we make core changes to the underlying tech. However, the entire system is moddable, so if the community is interested, they can create additional gameplay for other maps! Just keep in mind that whatever is created will almost certainly become outdated or broken as things progress.

In short, we are sticking with WCUSA for now on purpose and for good reason. :)

Where would I report a bug (& reason causing it) in career mode???

cause I was looking at the hot fixes & it said it tried to fix the computer not working sometimes… so I started testing & I learned that if you put down a marker/waypoint it won’t let you use the computers or enter dealerships but you can still trigger “missions”…

    Yep, that’s a thing.
Also, if there’s a car in front of the dealership that you didn’t buy, and then set up a waypoint, you can just drive that car away :p

I personally think adding career mode to the steam cloud would be a good idea.

The reason is that the travel between map would be possible in future, right?

If they use the same slot_type it should work.

Tried it for the first time
The menu's that require you to stand in a specific position can be buggy, but it's early experimental, so it's ok.

Overall rating: Why the heck did I put rally lights on my I-series/10

As always, fantastic feedback, and thank you for the kind words of support and encouragement, everyone. Keep those questions coming!

That's wonderful! Thank you for sharing the solution for others! :)

Absolutely, and when the time comes for sure.

I may have just about spit out my tea reading this, haha thanks for the laugh! =D

Currently, it's technically possible and super simple to trigger a transition to another map. Once there though, there would be no gameplay to participate in. In the past, earlier career prototypes had this feature, like driving to a bridge and "taking a boat to XYZ map." However, we encountered challenges with scenarios like wanting to fly from the airport in Italy to WCUSA when there's no airport there. Therefore, for the time being, we're setting aside these relatively straightforward and simple-to-fix-when-the-time-comes issues and prioritizing the development of core gameplay systems while keeping the focus on WCUSA. :)

Right here is the perfect place! Regarding the waypoint markers preventing other options from happening, this is something we're aware of and will address, thanks for the report! :)

Thanks for the feedback, and sorry for the glitch. The UI is undergoing an extremely thorough revamp at the moment - porting stuff from to Angular JS over Vue - and there are lots of little gremlins like this showing up during the development of the Vue codebase! Glad that the ESC mashing worked for you, hopefully if it happens again it'll solve it as well. We're aware of this, and it's being actively worked on!

The splash screens, the task list, the logbook, and other features are all a result of it! We want to get to the start and end screens for the challenges/missions next, among other screens. :)

You are probably the most sociable of the "beamng" team, so I'll try to ask you a question, will there be HDR mode on Vulkan?) I really want to play the future career mode with high FPS and juicy picture at the same time)!

Ah, that would explain why the logbook looks so excellent! Looking forward to the rest of the UI to eventually match its style :)
    --- Post updated ---
Just finished playing around with the career build, and it seems really promising so far! Despite the very WIP nature, it's fun and immersive, so great job @krallopian!

Here are my thoughts and suggestions:

    Likes:
Career tutorial - simple, not too wordy (show, don't tell), easy to follow
Info entries in the logbook - clean, attractive, and organized (see my comment above ;))
Damage isn't reset for personal vehicles after exiting challenges - increases immersion
Dealership buying experience (including the ability to walk around before purchase) - highly immersive
Computer car buying experience (including distance to cars) - highly immersive
Parts buying experience (including the ability to walk around before purchase) - highly immersive
Having one garage as a "home base" on the map at the start of career - encourages driving around and exploring the map
    Needing to discover quick-travel points
Having private sellers that you need to drive/taxi to - highly immersive
Cars for sale at the start of the career in Quarryside are always the same. - Great for testing and having a more consistent new player experience

    Suggested gameplay changes:
Have more challenges require the use of a personal vehicle at first, even if that means that players need to build up their garage to win some challenges.
    • This gives a big reason for players to buy, upgrade, and tune personal vehicles, bigger than just unlocking bonus stars.
    • This would let players progress (earn cash and XP) using their personal vehicles, which is similar to career modes in other driving games.
    • This would be the easiest (+ most familiar for players) to do with most Motorsport challenges, but certain Labourer and Adventurer challenges could also require personal vehicles (ex. manually loading boxes into the trunk of your car on foot, with dedicated cargo vehicles being able to carry more boxes and earn more).
    • Alternatively, allow players to earn cash and XP with their personal vehicles, and not just bonus stars.
Suggest challenges/milestones to pursue based on progression level/current vehicle.
    • This ties into requiring the use of a personal vehicle, but helps provide some direction while still keeping career mode nonlinear.
Be able to call a taxi from any location and pay for a trip to any point of interest.
    • I managed to strand myself after buying a personal vehicle and having it shipped to my garage, without having unlocked the Quick Travel for the garage. :p
    • This would not be duplicative since it wouldn't allow you to take your personal vehicle with you, unlike Quick Travel.
    • This would also allow players to "continue at current location" after a challenge without breaking immersion, since players could be left on foot if they complete a challenge without their personal vehicles (better than teleporting players back to the challenge start location and their personal vehicles). Players could then pay for a taxi back to their personal vehicle location.
Be able to repair instantly from the repair menu while on the road and not in the garage.
    • This basically makes the instant repair and bonus stars more valuable, but the cost may need to be increased for the convenience.
"Recover to road" during a challenge should also repair the vehicle.
    • This makes it much more useful as an alternative to restarting the challenge completely after a crash.

    Suggested UI changes:
Show the current part in each category, if applicable (useful for wheel sizes)
Be able to sort cars for purchase on the computer by name/type/distance/cost, with filters based on transmission, drivetrain, etc.
Indicate reward types for milestones (ex. 1000 "B cash" 10 XP)
Indicate completed milestones in the Logbook milestone list
Have multiple pictures in info entries where useful

Overall, it's a great start, and I'm looking forward to seeing how future updates build on this foundation.

You and me both! There is a lot of talk across the teams about wants vs needs when it comes to graphics improvements and tech. Although I cannot provide a timeline for things like HDR, I can say that it's the sort of thing we all are looking forward to and as far as I know, it's certainly still on the table but not the top priority at the moment! The graphics tech team like to keep things quiet and suddenly surprise us with new things, like the motion blur and PBR for instance! Believe me when I say, we're all asking for allllll the tech goodies from the engine geniuses on our team!

Wow, thank you for the fantastic list and the positive feedback – much appreciated! While many of your points align with what's been discussed earlier, one issue that caught my attention is the inability to "take a taxi to the garage." That's indeed a bug, and it should always be an available option. I'll ensure the team prioritizes fixing this issue ASAP, so thanks for bringing it to our attention!

Regarding the balance between "repair on the side of the road" or "recover to road" and keeping things realistic, we decided to go with the approach of "only repair from within the garage" and make sure vehicles are in a state of repair before starting a challenge (think of trying to enter a race with your exhaust hanging off, and missing bumpers, it's simply not allowed.) This choice aims to strike a balance that encourages players to drive skillfully and avoid vehicle damage. However, if your vehicle does get damaged, you now have the option to get it repaired instantly, albeit your cost now includes time, as you'll need to drive back to your destination after being repaired. It's been quite a journey to find this balance, as we wanted to prevent the game from turning into a "smash-and-instantly-repair" scenario, which isn't realistic. Charging a bonus star or cash value each time wasn't sufficient to convey the real-life consequences of recklessly damaging your vehicle on multiple occasions during a single trip to the grocery store. We're committed to delivering an engaging and authentic experience in Career Mode, and allowing players to repair their vehicle wherever and whenever does not fit that experience. :)

So far I'm pleasantly surprised. Played a few hours on it and it overall looks stable. There are a few things that got my attention:

    1. More uses for your personal car. I read somewhere that it's planned, but my feedback is based on the current state. Right now all of the career challenges are with pre-selected cars, so your main vehicles are just freeroam gimmicks.
    2. Economy is still far off. I was able to buy a fully upgraded 700hp+ Bruckel Bastion after completing the main visible challenges. It cost about $45k~. I think it should be more like $450k, because now it feels like I'm in the end-game and it doesn't give me a lot of initiative to continue to earn money. Basically I was able to jump from a stock Ibishu 200BX directly to a top-tier car after 3-4 hours of playing.
    3. The penalty for crashing is a bit underwhelming. $500 + 1 min of waiting for completely destroying your car. It should cost a lot more, or even better - give you the list of broken things so you can replace whatever is the more critical or what you can afford. There should be a 'hardcore' mode where you have to completely recoup the cost of repair. Also I'm not very sure about the 'waiting to get fixed or pay more for instant'. It's like a misplaced freemium mobile game mechanic.
    4. Tow to garage should cost money. You should also be able to tow it yourself. Also you should be able to see it actually get towed to the location (maybe not actually see it climibng onto a tow truck, but rather see it on it and the truck taking off). These 'instant actions' that just do magic stuff are not very fun.

There's a lot of work on making the UI prettier, but I'm sure you know that already.

NFS:U2 and Street Legal Racing: Readling are my favorite old 'car' games which are no longer made like that, and I really hope it goes more in that direction, although I'm sure you may have other plans for it.
With that in mind, there are a few things that can be used from there:

    1. Freeroam events - except random AI traffic, there should be other 'racers' with tuned cars that you can challenge.
    2. Nightly organized drag races (literally like SLR), or maybe even regular races - you can try your luck for money, or even pink slips
    3. Police. In my playthrough I was roleplaying by not jumping lanes like a mad man, blowing red lights and driving too fast, but I'd prefer if it's actually enforced and not self-enforced.
    3. Leaderboard - there should be some sense of a 'racer community' where you go up the ranks and establish yourself as a pro
    4. With these in mind - day/night mode
    5. Ability to travel between maps

Overall it's fun, but I can't get past the feeling of a static world. I'd like to see the world move and progress around me. Be it with unlockable areas/maps, or with a sense of a 'bigger community'.

I'm sure you already have ideas about these points, but wanted to share my opinion on it.
