I started working on this a while ago and ended up shelving it. After the new update came out that expanded west coast, I decided it would be better to start from scratch once I had the time and resources again. So I threw together what I had and released it, just so I wasn't hoarding it in secret forever. Keep in mind that its not in the state I wanted it in, missing animation, dialogue, and some cleanup in editing both visually and audibly. but, still packed with plenty of action
Well done, mate. Great camera work and use of the script editor. I would hope my work improves to this level.
Great work on this! I loved your camera choices. Do you do some technique with the frame rate? It seemed like it had a unique kind of motion that reminds me of CGI animation.
The video is in 24 fps, and there are 3 reasons for that: 1) with how many cars I have loaded in at one time, I cannot maintain a stable 60 FPS on my old, second hands and more than likely mined on 2070 (someone plz send me a 3070 I beg you) 2) Most movies are filmed at 48 FPS and then reduced to 24 FPS. 24 FPS is the perfect framerate where things are still smooth and clear while not being overbearing, like 60 FPS. It also provides some motion blur, which helps improve the sense of speed of things on the screen. It's the same reason why racing games don't feel nearly as fast as they once did on older consoles, since the frame rate has doubled since then, we lose that bit of motion blur from lower frame rates that increase that sense of speed. 3) Since I planned on animating this with characters in the driver and passenger seat, along with 2 other sequences where other characters would be present, 24 FPS would be the perfect frame rate to work with. I had planned to animate on twos and then allow the animation to blur at 24 FPS, which I had done before for my "What is BeamNG?" video intro () although with a bit more practice and work. I locked OBS and BeamNG to 48 FPS so I had some room to work with if I wanted to slow it down in post and didn't record it at half speed in the game. Its not perfect, there is still some screen tearing present in some frames, but I think the result is much better than most 60 FPS chases personally.
Interesting info, thanks. I just watched your "What is BeamNG.Drive?" video in full and I am astonished first of all at the production quality and secondly at the things we did that are nearly identical! I just released my first BeamNG video, which is also my first time ever making a video. I too opted for 24fps with motion blur but somehow the overall look of your motion seems different, which is why I asked. I've never seen your video before but it blew me away when I saw the car crash through the chain-link fence, the travel trailer being annihilated, and the SBSCRBE license plate at the end. I did the same things! Got yourself a new subscriber. You can check it out mine here if you want. I am using a 2060Super but I had a worse time in post than I did in game. My PC became a BeamNG simulator with all the crashing that happened. https://www.beamng.com/threads/beamng-on-film.94631/
