Since there was instant backlash. I'm only including the demo version with this post.

I was also going to convert some of my car models but never mind I guess.

    Demo Version includes:
    18" Rays 57 CR
    18" Rays 57 DR
17" WedsSport Hase II (6 Lug with dirt map)
    Tire - Bridgestone RE040 for 18x9 wheel
Tire - Falken Wildpeaks 32" for 17x9 wheel (with dirt map)

I don't think you can sell a mod with real life branding.

Well it's a grey area. Seemed like it was ok'ish thing on the forums. But I guess not, after looking at the post below. I kinda gathered the community was split on paid / non-paid mods. But didn't think about Paid+IRL. Since it is kinda hypocritical with the amount of licensed cars on the forums.

Anyway. I'll just keep to myself then.

I figured I may as well drop my two cents into this discussion real quick. While the community has seen some paid mods from vehicles to wheel packs, the ones that appear to be generally tolerated are those that are scratch-made. Given that you proclaim to be a professional 3D artist, it would be reasonable to monetize your works if you modeled all of the wheels from scratch, similar to Nekkit and his wheel pack.

However, one aspect that is controversial is selling content involving copyrighted brand names and intellectual properties. Yes, it's more or less a gray area, because certain individuals within and outside of this community have done so. In fact, there was someone by the name of Moosbach Mods who tried to promote his paid wheel pack with real-world branding a few months ago, and people called him out for that. It's worth mentioning that the models were likely taken from other sources in this case, rather than being modeled from scratch.

In addition, your account on the forums is relatively new. As a result, many people tend to be skeptical with supporting newcomers that make their initial contributions within the community paid in some degree. If you can back your credibility as a professional 3D artist by providing proof of your past works, then maybe more people could give you the benefit of the doubt.

In summary, assuming you modeled the wheels from scratch, you have a right to monetize your works. I would suggest replacing instances of copyrighted brand names with more lore-friendly ones if you still intend on making the full pack paid; in doing so, there would be less criticism. At the end of the day, it's up to you to decide.

Thanks for your level headed response. I might of considered retexturing them to be "Knockoffs". But being called a scum right off the bat, doesn't make me feel welcome at all, coming into a new community. That and seeing ripped content from games such as Forza, and nobody bats an eye. Also makes for a confusing prospect. Funny enough, I'm 85% sure that Forza 4Runner model. Is a model Turn 10 bought off Turbo Squid. So how about that for a grey area, heh. (I mean if your Turn 10, are you going to pay a artist 100 hours of work, or just buy a model off TS for $120, since you have the license anyway.)

I guess I shouldn't be surprised at the skepticism . I know theft seems to be rampant. And thought about doing a render in Blender, but that proves nothing. And I keep my professional demo reel separate from the hobby side of things.

Your comment does make me feel abit better with this situation. Modding led me into a career in 3D modeling 25 years ago. And revisiting modding, has brought back that satisfaction of creating, and seeing your work function in-game.
