Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 8/25/14) Why the hell did you bump this thread, the answer is clearly no.
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 8/25/14) Yes. I've been posting all that I've been working on in the "Development Screens" thread. The progress that I've completed wasn't sufficient enough for an update post though, in my opinion. There was also a break in progress, for around 2 - 2 1/2 weeks. I am almost finished with chassis beam structure though, I'll just have to do some programming to get it working in the game. Sent from my BLU ADVANCE 4.0 using Tapatalk
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 8/25/14) If I were to quit on the car I would just say it and cancel it instead of letting everyone expect what won't come. I do understand that I've had long periods where I've done nothing to the car, but I'm trying to move away from that. Lastly, could you tone it down a little? It was just a harmless question. Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 8/25/14) Hi everyone, I don't have a substantial progress update yet but I'm getting there. Right now I'm having trouble with getting the nodes and beams to appear. I'm not sure what I'm missing or what I'm doing incorrectly, but I'll keep trying different methods and looking for issues or holes. I checked the console for error messages and this is what it displayed. I'm not too keen with programming yet, so I don't know what this means. :|
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 8/25/14) This happens when there is a typo in your JBeam file.
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 8/25/14) *UPDATE* (11/4/14) Hello everyone, I have some good news. I've finally got the first, essential, part of the car working in the game! I've recently mapped out the nodes and beams for the car, using Blender and rmikebaker's exporter (thanks for creating this ). I tried to follow some examples when creating the main JBeam file but I did something wrong and I've yet to find it. Though, thanks to Nadeox1's vehicle creation tutorial, I've got the nodes and beams into BeamNG, with working physics! I basically used his template and input my nodes and beams. In doing this, the mesh is no longer appearing, so I have to figure out what going wrong with that. But I think getting the physics working is a larger achievement than getting the mesh to appear. I recorded a short video showing that it works now. It is quiet weak at the moment so I'll need to tweak the settings for that in the future, but one step at a time. -- Edit -- I've found the typo in the old file. It was a repeated quotation mark and the lack of a space between two entries. There was also a problem with BeamNG reading the file because I put a comment in the first line of the JBeam file. It doesn't matter that much now though. I just wanted to state that I've found it.
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 11/4/14) glad to see you're working on this still. the mesh not appearing is usually a very simple solution. it was working before right? so scaling isn't the problem, it must be in the jbeam file. must be a typo or something missing there. check the console for any error messages too "~" I'm interested in seeing how your mesh reacts when the chassis drops.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5vRRwofSk0 That's what mine was doing, the jbeam structure i created was too flimsy i guess.
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 11/4/14) Thank you, it was a typo (poorly placed quotation marks ). It may have taken me a long time to find if it I didn't know what to look for. My model has an effect very similar to yours. (this was a drop from spawning height)
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 11/4/14) Could you make a paint like this car in Need for Speed Most Wanted? That will be real real real cool!
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 11/4/14) I plan on making the Most Wanted skin for the car (unless someone else offers to do it). But, before I make that skin I going to do this one first:
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 11/4/14) Its good to see that you're making multiple skins for this. Although i have to say the skin your making first looks SICK it is awsome. P.S. the road gtr is going to have that little spoiler in the back like on the challenger in driver san fransisco because thats the cloasist thing I can compare its spoiler to.
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 11/4/14) Thanks. I already know that the road car has its own spoiler. That's why I haven't modeled the rear wing for either version of the car yet. I don't know about Driver San Francisco, I've never played it .
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 11/4/14) Hello everyone. I have to put the car on hold. My computer isn't charging and I'm not entirely sure why. I think my charger has gone bad so I ordered a new one and it will get to me in a few days. Until then my computer will be out of commission, maybe even longer. Hopefully the problem is nothing worst than that, like a faulty charging port. I just wanted to inform you of that. Sent from my BLU ADVANCE 4.0 using Tapatalk
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 11/4/14) Well good luck bud I remember when I broke the pins in the bottom of my iPhone 3 charging port and it was toast. It was then I realized Apple only care about money and don't offer any repair thingies. That's why I bought a Galaxy... No problems whatsoever.
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 11/4/14) I've got my computer charging again. I'm still running into issues that I have to fix, but those problems are manageable for now. So I can continue working on the car.
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 11/4/14) I recomend backing it up somewhere Would be a shame if it would get lost!
