Wired Xbox 360 Controller Not working

I bought a official wired xbox 360 controller, came home installed the drivers from the disk and the controller didnt work.
I've tried lots of keymaps and that still dosent work
Also when i Start the game the controller glows on the silver X, when i quit the game it disipears.
Any ideas on how to get it working?

 

1. Throw it into a wall.
2. Then go to the nearest Xbox controller store and buy a new one.
No problems after only 2 steps!

 

Was the controller plugged in before the game was launched? The official ones work as is on BeamNG, no additional inputmap required.

 

Yes it shows the glow by the X

 

That doesnt answer the question as it glows by the X when plugged in after launching the game for me. The controller must be plugged in before the game is launched. Otherwise it should just work.

 

Have you tried using it in any other game?

 

It works fine in Next Car Game, just plugged it in and played, no setup no nothing.

IDK if this was suggested but plug in your controller then launch the game and see if it works. Try verifying your game content via Steam, it may replace a broken input map. You can also download a "stock" map from here (post #8) and replace the directed file.

 

Thanks trying a fresh install and seeing if that works first, will post back results.

Fresh install didnt work, and the xbox inputmap didnt work, works in next car game thought...

 

Have you tried a different USB Port?

 

Ive tried all my front usb 2.0 + 3.0 and rear 2.0 + 3.0, still dosent work

Ive got it to work!!!
I went into control panel and then selected device manager, then there was another devices tab, right clicked on the controller and then installed driver software from there.
i am sooooo happy!!!
