We haven't had a major update on Friday in a long while - the devs have leaned more towards early-week update releases to catch as many bugs as possible in the first few days. -0.30 was on a Wednesday -0.29, 0.28, and 0.27 all were on Tuesdays -0.26 was on a Monday -0.25 was on a Wednesday -0.24.1 was on a Monday -0.24 was on a Thursday -0.23 was on a Wednesday -0.22 was on a Monday -0.21 was on a Tuesday -0.20 was on a Thursday -0.19 was on a Wednesday -0.18.3 was on a Thursday -0.18 was on a Monday -0.17.1 was on a Thursday -0.17 was on a Friday -0.16 was on a Friday -0.15 was on a Thursday We've had only two major updates release on a Friday in the past five years - while Friday isn't impossible, it's very unlikely. If we don't get 0.31 by Thursday, it'll probably be next week.
Releasing on Wednesday seems very probable. If not, at least we're almost certainly getting a teaser tomorrow as well based on patterns, then we'll see what's going on from there. Also, the developers sometimes suggest their update progress inside of the captions that are posted with the images. For example, the blurb that came with the final 0.30 teaser read "Fired up". The update came out the next day. Same with 0.29; It said "Gear up for soccer practice", and it released a few days later.
There's still two weeks until Christmas, and I'd assume they would want to release it close to Christmas. My prediction is next Tuesday, feels like a good day for an update.
The 19th is perfectly reasonable, as that's within the usual "update time" for the end-of-year update (2nd of Dec.-21st of Dec.). However, I think that the devs tend to release updates about a week after the creator program gets updated (although I could be wrong on that), and the devs have been leaning more towards the start-middle of December for the past couple years. The last time we had a December update release after the 15th was with 0.15 (18th of Dec.), and that was almost 5 years ago. 0.18 came out on the 9th, 0.21 on the 15th, 0.24 on the 2nd, and 0.27 on the 13th. If you exclude 0.11 (the only holiday update since 2015 not to release in December), the average time for the December update to come out is between the 13th and 14th. I'd be surprised if it didn't come out this week, although I'd be fine with waiting another week if that is necessary for such a big remaster.
I doubt they are gonna release an update on the 19th. it's too close to their holiday break. if their done by then, they'll probably release it on Christmas.
I agree, my money is still on this Wednesday, though I'd be completely fine waiting as well since this has been my most wanted update in my entire history playing the game.
I think there's a decent possibility that the gearboxes will be individually tuned for each vehicle in this update, regarding the synchros, because the T-series will almost certainly have a non-synchronous transmission (maybe a variant with syncros to make it easier for people on keyboard to drive), which will require a little updating. Right now the T-series and all other vehicles too have synchros apart from reverse gear, even the race gearboxes, so i think this will change.
I think that the T-Series will certainly get a more complex transmission, and it wouldn't surprise me if all vehicles got an update since it seems like they've been experimenting with more realistic shifting. However, if they do, I don't known how big it would be since remaking an entire truck plus trailers isn't exactly easy. Hopefully though!
If that's the case, that's probably they're leaning more and more towards releasing earlier in the month. Also, they haven't released a major content update in December past the 21st that wasn't a timed holiday event in about 8 years (0.5.1 came out on the 30th of December). Even 0.18.3 and 0.24.1 came out before the 21st (19th and 20th, respectively). Speaking of things which haven't happened for about 8 years - for those of y'all thinking 0.31 will come out in February, the last time we got a major content update in that month was 0.5.2, in early 2016. I mean, if it does drop on the 13th, I'll give you props for getting it bang-on the first time. I do hope they make it easier for wheel users to use the T-Series with an H-shifter - it'd be a bit odd to me for the devs to throw all this effort into fiddling with the manuals, remaster the T-Series, and then still have a single-range, 12-speed manual for that truck. (I know flappy paddles are pretty common on wheels, but it's still not great for wheel users who like to use an H-shifter to get practically excluded from a whole vehicle.) Speaking of gearboxes... I dunno - the devs seem to be spending a whole lotta time on the manuals - which is understandable, considering that many players probably use those over autos. But there's probably a reason for players using manuals over autos a lot beyond just preference.
depends how the devs approach it. 10,13 and 18 speed gearboxes are common and can all be used with a 6 position H shifter, just need 2 buttons or keys to toggle range and splitter 18 speed pattern below, going from 1234 to 5678 is the range selector, and each gear can be split into high and low with the splitter, giving 18 forward ratios, and 4 reverse yes there is low low and low high lol
As much as I'd like a 13/18 speed with a shift pattern I'm used to, it's probably more likely that the devs will just do a 12 speed with a range selector to work with the common 6 plus reverse setup that most wheels have. It means no vehicle specific gear shift position bindings and people unfamiliar with trucks don't have to get used to reverse where 1st is supposed to be. It would also be possible with a splitter to make an 18 speed with a similar shift pattern to a real 13 speed. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7L, 7H, 8L etc.
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, as well - the devs have had the code for range boxes since 0.9, at the very latest, and that was almost 7 years ago. You could get close to a real 12-speed semi gearbox by just taking a 6-speed and adding a range box to it. I'm not sure if that's the path the devs will take (perhaps they've got another way to do a splitter planned just for the T-Series), but if they went with just re-purposing the range box code, that'd at least be 100 times better than the current gearbox. (And not just for wheel users, I imagine - I, at least, don't really enjoy having to go through 12 gears all the time whenever I'm hotlapping the base-model T65 Short, T65, and T75, even on my Xbox controller. Being able to go from, say, 3L to 6H instead of 3 to 12 would make launching it off the line way nicer.)
You mean teezr tusday? I would think so because I don’t think we’ve ever had this few teasers so close to an update iirc
