Random oddity: the new engine has its jbeam and model in the semi folder, but the textures in "belasco_diesel" in the common folder (not in \engines). Maybe they're planning a Wentward remake with a shrunk down Belasco engine to replace the old Gavril TCM (just like the TCX)? The WIP mixer is also in the semi files, if anyone wants to peek at it. EDIT: it's actually the pre-remake model being used as a placeholder, ignore it.
Looks like this bit of code on the dual shift is meant for an automated manual gearbox Code: //"shiftLogicName":"genericGearbox" //"virtualgearhandling":{ // "virtualgears": [ // ["gearindex", "gearname", "devicestates"] // [-2, "r2", {"gearbox":{"gearindex":-1}, "rangebox":{"mode":"high"}}] // [-1, "r1", {"gearbox":{"gearindex":-1}, "rangebox":{"mode":"low"}}] // [0, "n", {"gearbox":{"gearindex":0}, "rangebox":{"mode":"low"}}] // [1, "1l", {"gearbox":{"gearindex":1}, "rangebox":{"mode":"low"}}] // [2, "1h", {"gearbox":{"gearindex":1}, "rangebox":{"mode":"high"}}] // [3, "2l", {"gearbox":{"gearindex":2}, "rangebox":{"mode":"low"}}] // [4, "2h", {"gearbox":{"gearindex":2}, "rangebox":{"mode":"high"}}] // [5, "3l", {"gearbox":{"gearindex":3}, "rangebox":{"mode":"low"}}] // [6, "3h", {"gearbox":{"gearindex":3}, "rangebox":{"mode":"high"}}] // [7, "4l", {"gearbox":{"gearindex":4}, "rangebox":{"mode":"low"}}] // [8, "4h", {"gearbox":{"gearindex":4}, "rangebox":{"mode":"high"}}] // [9, "5l", {"gearbox":{"gearindex":5}, "rangebox":{"mode":"low"}}] // [10, "5h", {"gearbox":{"gearindex":5}, "rangebox":{"mode":"high"}}] // ], // "shiftcommands": [ // ["order", "name", "parameters"], // [1,"clutchdisconnect",{"clutchname":"clutch"}], // [2,"gearboxshiftneutral",{"gearboxname":"gearbox"}], // [3,"revmatch",{"revmatchdevicename":"gearbox", "enginename":"mainengine", "clutchname":"clutch"}], // [4,"gearboxshiftgear",{"gearboxname":"gearbox"}], // [5,"revmatch",{"revmatchdevicename":"rangebox", "enginename":"mainengine", "clutchname":"clutch"}], // [6,"rangeboxshift", {"rangeboxname":"rangebox"}] // [7,"clutchconnect",{"clutchname":"clutch"}], // ] //}
I miss the old BeamNG. I used to play it all day when I could, driving like crazy and doing all sorts of possible things in Gridmap. Thinking it came so far in about 10 years really hits. Lots of nostalgia! --- Post updated --- You're 100% right. BeamNG has realistic coupling, uncoupling, traier hydraulics, awesome air brake simulation, engine and gear dynamics and many more things. You can choose trailers and adjust the weight. The cabin isn't as detailed as the latest trucks SCS released, but the things I mentioned before will compensate this problem. On the other hand, ETS2/ATS has huge maps but not a sandbox world where you can do whatever you like. It's very realistic, but not at Beam's levels... trucks don't have visual damage and you can't control/open the trailers.
With all the new areas they keep adding to WCUSA I don't understand why this area isn't done? It's like 2 streets, would it be such a issue to copy paste some houses to make it look finished?
I really hope so! For now I can simulate them in the dynamic editor, although they won't be so realistic.
yeaaah but it's been in the oven since 2017, I just find it weird they filled other areas really well but haven't ever touched this part
Right maybe. Wasn't Spearleaf Island outside the map's square boundary as well? And is it really an issue? You can drive out of bounds on all maps if you really want to
Yes, Spearleaf Island technically is outside the main map boundary - in fact, when WCA first released, you couldn't even drive onto the Platin Gate Bridge (the big bridge between the mainland and Spearleaf) without teleporting onto it, due to the blocked signs. I personally don't have any major issues with the devs improving WCA (but I do hope that all the experience learned on improving WCA goes towards making more city maps - would be nice to have a city map that isn't 1/2-racetrack).
A while ago I was doing my usual developer stalking (sorry devs) and came across tdev’s ‘winkie’ reaction to a excavator suggestion. And… well. Empty dump trucks and massive loaders are present. On another note, this update has me stoked! And I never even cared for trucks and hauling!
This update is amazing, I like the trucks, and we are probably getting a euro truck too in future, but I think for maybe 0.31.1 they could add maybe a T-Series Christimas Tasti Cola Truck.
Does it necessarly have to be a Renault ? It could be a Berliet, or a Willème , or a Bernard, or a Delahaye. Maybe even Michelin's DS , could be good for a tire simulation themed update.
I have never heard of any of these names tbh, not surprised that they haven’t either since a decent part of the forums hasn’t even heard of what Škoda is.
